I need an offset or angle drive for the distributor for my 327 that's on the stand. I just finally found the 4 DCNF weber intake I've been looking for for years (it's an Inglese manifold) but it's missing the Inglese supplied angle drive. Does anyone else make these? The rear carb is just too close to clear a distributor in the stock vertical postion. I am also considering running a front mount distributor setup if I can't find an angle drive. Thanks, Steve
Nope, she's really tight - the rearmost carb hangs back almost even with the front of the distributor hole - originally Inglese supplied this setup with an offset drive but it's not with the used one that I bought and Inglese doesn't have a clue about this setup now (bought by Comp Cams and they don't even list this setup anymore)- check this out:
Here's a pic of another Inglese DCNF setup with the angle drive and distributor installed - it's a shot of Steve Lykken's '32 Vicky Delivery built in the mid 80's - my apologies for the high zoot billet stuff Steve
I came across an old Rod Action article this weekend that shows a Pete Jackson FRONT DRIVE as well as one the Kong made for the SBC. Was going to start a thread inquiring about them!?
This is crazy, but I just found out that a friend of mine made one using weed eater parts, the angle head down where it cuts the grass, from what he told me.
I ran 40 DCNFs on a non Hamb friendly car back in the day, a '69 Fiat 124. I just thought about carbs till then! A modern high end carb will come close to the tech of those but not quite! Looks good!!
From what you are saying I gather that even a crab-cap low profile MSD unit wouldn't fit. You might check with Joe Panek of Roto-Faze...he offered both a front-drive unit and a crab-style unit...he might well have made a rear-mount angle drive as well. http://www.roto-faze.com/ He is still in business and still building ignitions. Beyond that, my best suggestion is to use a Summers Bros. front-mount distributor.
Yep, offset drive is the plan - still looking though - this thing has just been sitting (like most of my junk) . . . Steve
This is a duel drive. But could have just as well been an ofset drive if that was what I wanted. All it takes is a call to Boston Gear or some such some bearings and aluminum, time on a mill. If i did it you can. I once made a twin distributer drive for a Chevy
http://www.msdignition.com/Products...-_GM_Small_Block_Front_Drive_Distributor.aspx You could have it off the front, as they intend, or shorten a stock distributor and use a shorter belt to drive it off the back
P Green is just being helpful. He doesn't realize he answered a ghost thread. Happens to a lot of newbies.
