I just recieved my new issue of hot rod magazine and i am impressed by the cars in this issue. The cover has a 331 powered 30' Model A with a good write up inside, plus inside is a cool 55' g***er wagon, a feature on "Twin Bears Digger", a hemi powered willys, a cool hot rod family and more. I have been tossing the idea of not subscribing to hot rod anymore but the last few issues haven't been bad and they are starting to put in good articles like they used to. I just wondering thought I would let everyone know that this one is worth looking at. Not looking for a debate.
Kinda been a trend this year .... Who woulda thought they would actually go back to putting Hot Rods in HOT ROD ???!!!???
It was a good issue. Usually it is about at 30 minute ET from mail box to recycle. I still have it a week later.
I have to say, this is good news. I was considering dropping Hot Rod Magazine from my list of mags but this latest issue changed my mind. There is alot of real good stuff in this issue, I hope they keep it coming.
You think? Should Hot Rod Magazine have a historical slant? To me, the best period of HRM was 1948 to 1958. They didn't give a RIP about history - all they cared about was speed and performance. To me, that's Hot Rod Magazine. Obviously, traditional hot rods are a very big part of my life. I live em... I drive one every single day... But to me, Hot Rod Magazine should have never lost the contemporary edge it had its first decade.
I agree thats what HRM was about I drive mine everyday the early days of HRM was what hooked us lets continue making history.
Yeah, glad to see some hot rods back in the mag. The g***er wagon was bad***. So was the Caddy Model A.
I will agree to a certain extent Ryan. However, from `48-58, the OEMs were building cars worth modifying, not so these days. Unless you care to modify a $45000 Camaro or Mustang. No thanks, I'll take a Model A or a Tri-5 Ford, Chevy or other any day of the week over anything new. Which is also why I sold my late model F150 and got my 61 F100 unibody as a daily now. JMO.
I think they are starting to realize that a huge portion of their readers dont care about anything built after 1972.
I mean come on, don't you want to see more pro-street Vegas or Nova's with tires as wide as the man's *** whose driving it? I hope they find a good balance between contemp stuff (put more horses, handling, etc. in your new base camaro) and the traditional crowd. Less billet equals more readers in my humble opinion. I have a stack of HRM from the 48-58 period that I find myself reading more and more lately.
Yep...especially with a certain Buick funny car gracing the pages! Left out the center two pages but you get the idea... I have been a subscriber for over 5 years and I must say,the last 2 years have been pure pleasure to read.If you're into retro, vintage, nostalgic or just plain cool drag cars and handbuilt street cars that just ooze personality, then HRM is for you...! I say subscribe and you won't be sorry...they have so much cool archive stuff,I'm just glad they share it with me.
Maybe its because of the HUGE response to Hot Rod Deluxe. I hope the trend continues and the 2 magazines become one. I'm tired of searchin' for the Deluxe on the shelf anyway! My wife raises hell about all these damn magazines. That would cut down on one. Either way.... good job Hot Rod magazine guys.
