Someone here once referred to the automatic transmission needing to warm up before it would shift gears as "morning sickness".
Now besides the obvious pulling of the transmission and having it cleaned and rebuilt, does anyone have any other suggestions to fix the issue? Is there a transmission additive that can help this issue, or is a rebuild the only solution?

  2. service it first and when you drop the pan pay attention to what is in the pan and where.

ok that is a project I have for this weekend. The gasket around the pan is leaking only when the car is running when I change the gasket I will look and take pictures.

Many times I have changed filter and fluid and restored it back to original. Getting rid of the trash restores full fluid flow.

Thanks! That is encouraging I hope that works!

  6. Last chance along with fluid and filter change, Lucas Stop Slip.
If the fluid and filter have an unknown history or a known long history of having not been changed, a fresh batch of ATF will kill that transmission. Can't tell you why, but it happens.
With using advice from a long time transmission builder customer, Lucas is one of the few additives that will not corrode metal while softening the seals and o-rings.
