I just bought a super nice old 28 A pickup tha't an old So Cal hot rod, it has a very nicely installed corvair front suspension. I would like to try and keep in in place, but need some rebuild parts, ball joints tie rods etc. Also I would like to lower it just a bit 2" or so. Does anyone make a dropped spindle for these? I need a source for brake rebuild parts and ball joints etc, and any other supplier for spindles etc. Thanks in advance, Rusty.
Plenty of Corvair stuff around...just go to your friendly Corvair internet site and order...(don't have a specific site in mind tho...!!!) OR...brake parts are NAPA stuff, Advance Auto will have some too... R- Question for you PrimerDave...what's a "proyect G***er"...??? And most years are stated with the apostrophe in front of the year, as in '55...otherwise it means 55 FEET, as in 55' Buick...55 foot Buick...!!!
general motors gave all rights to ckarke , check out the catalog. i have a 68 , going to put on s10 frame . So if ya need something let me know.
Any dropped spindle/ disc brake info????? I would like to lower it a bit, without trashing the springs.
Guys used to use Chevelle spindles and disc brakes - not sure how it goes together but it's something to look for - you can buy dropped Chevelle dropped spindles - I have them on my ElCamino. I had a 35 Ford years ago with a Corvair front end - kinda ugly, but it worked OK.
I had a spider clip under a 1930 sedan years ago it rode and drove very well.I purchased item from Clarks corvairs parts. I believe that to use chevelle spindle and disk brakes you need to modify the lower control arm to accept chevelle ball joint.
""""Question for you PrimerDave...what's a "proyect G***er"...???"""" It's a Yiddish Race Car..................
Friends that had put the corvair front ends in street rods in the 70s would change the ball joint (upper or lower) and use chevelle, camaro or nova spindles with db's. Don't know if that helps but there is a lot out there for this set up. Its just not cookie cutter like the mustang II. Pat
