Pics as requested by 'The Flyin' Dutchman'...

I'm still figuring some things out, but I am making decent progress... although it may not be totally visible. You can also get a little sneak preview of the new shop in the background...moving in has been taking up most of my time for the past couple of weeks.

Anyway...the exhaust is going to be pretty close to what you see here with the "****tail shaker" megaphones/mufflers, but I'm going to make the bottom line (edge) of the mufflers match the bottom leg of the hardtail, and the head pipes will be changed to the earlier, curvier style. I haven't put the front axle in because the front end is going to come apart again as soon as the fork covers come in. I like the boots/ gaiters, but the chrome covers will make sense when the rest of the bike is done.

I'm also undecided on the rear tire...One minute I like the double WW, the next I want to switch to a blackwall, then I keep thinking I should go to an 18" wheel. I have to make the decision before I mount the rear fender though.

Going to run white footpegs, white kicker pedal, and either white or flake Schwinn style grips (but not the blue ones in the pics.)

Close-up of the Fatlucky's seat...White pearl with black piping on a Bates pan:

And here's how the front is mounted...a simple bracket with a heim end that bolts to the stock rear tank mount:

I have to thank Sean @ Fatlucky's for doing such a *****in' job on the seat...it's extremely close to the sketch I sent him, and fits the bike perfectly. So now I'm thinking the bike is going to turn out pretty nice...I just have to finish it now. [IMG] (Hopefully for the Roundup!)

Oh...one more thing...I think I've got the paint color narrowed down to two choices, but I'll entertain suggestions. Anybody have an opinion on color? Thanks for looking...

Nice! [IMG] [IMG] As for paint, go with royal blue, medium flake and cream stripes.

    Hey B***,
GREAT bike !!! I really dig it,especially the bars.Make the whole bike to me.I agree with the curvier front pipes, but I'm fifty-fifty with making the mufflers match the frame line.Sometimes this just looks "too clean" if you know what I mean.Maybe a slight rake would be best, maybe not....But hey,you are the builder, you decide.
The 16" wheel looks good too but an 18 incher is also hot as hell on Trumps. No ideas on the paint though...Even got no ideas for my bike at all.Keeping it bare metal until you know for sure is a good idea. That's what I do.
    Again,good job !!!

Hey B***! Love the scooter! I just got another Triumph myself. Mine has the 18" rear wheel and I had a 16" on my list of changes, however, I think I'm sticking with the 18". On my bike it just looks right. I like the double stripe tire on the rear of yours as well. That seat looks perfect (And comfortable!) I like the muffler idea and had the same plan for mine. I'm using a different style of muffler though.

Color? I'm thinking of changing mine to a bronze or copper with all the white pegs/ grips you described. I always like that combo. Has to have a little flake too. Having no t***les on the bars or a basket on the front will make me a RULER. [IMG] [IMG]

Hey B***...looks great!!!...Have you got anyone that can shorten and rethread fork tubes?...I like the way it sits right now and have thought about shorter tubes on mine. Nobody around here has the equipment to rethread the tubes though.

One solution on too many choices....build a dozen bikes [IMG]...then build some more.....hatch

    looks great b***,
i think the eighteen would look good, but hell what wouldn't look good on a triumph.most of the time i like the (rubber boots too)but your bikes come out so nice that it takes away from the look of the front end.i'd go with the covers also.
now for the fun part. i vote for a root beer base w/a little flake, cream scallops w/a little flake and gold stripes.
then it will look sweet rooot beer float [IMG]
no really i think it would look **** and balls like that. [IMG]
    oh hell i can't stop

Hatch...I don't have a source for shortening fork tubes, but the bike is actually going to sit very close to where it is in the picture. The tubes need to come up in the lower tree about an inch, and the weight of the bike will compress the srings the rest of the way. I still need to break the forks down to get it all where it needs to be, but I'm waiting on the covers.

Ed 'Boom Boom' Cannon...This is a new bike that I started building in early November. The new shop is right between Fair Park and Deep Ellum...pretty much smack dab in the middle of Dallas.

    Stangzilla/ Kenny...I like root beer floats....mmmmmmm. [IMG]

Thanks for the input and compliments guys!

  18. Niiiice one!!

That bike sits really nice... Hope you can work it out with the front forks!
The whole bike looks really short.. it's probably because of those high apes also... My buddies Pan looks short like this too.
    is the bolt on extended..?
I like the 16", but indeed, an 18" would be great also..

Where did you get those grips (Super Sixties..?). A buddy of mine in Vegas is looking for 1" blue flake grips.

    Seat looks da shizzle..!

    Keep up the good work!

About the color for your bike.... How about some baby blue with some goldleafing.. And then mix some black and white (like the seat/grips/etc..) in there.. Stripes or something.. Could match a whitewall too...

oh yeah.. those fork boots.. I'm totally not into those. Some Webco or Bates covers look GREAT!! Are you going with a spool again..?

I brought some stuff to the chromer last weekend. Did some more framework and started workin' on the motor...

    B***,

I'd like to know about that hardtail too. "Short" bikes look a lot better to me than the ones with stretched out hardtails. Wouldja mind telling me the manufacturer and where you got it, or is that a trade secret?!

    Thanks,
    Ed

PS- I dig the way you're going to mount the megaphones. They'll look real good running along the lower legs of the hardtail. Nice work, man!

  20. I saw someone talking about reversed heads....

Did I ever post this before..?

I don't think you posted those pics on the HAMB, but I saw them posted elsewhere. That bike was in one of the very first issues of Ed Roth's "Choppers Magazine" if I remember right. I like it a lot...but the headlight kind of freaks me out. [IMG]

I don't know who made the hardtail because I didn't buy it new....but my Triumph guru pal Johnny Gringo says it's probably a BCS hardtail, so that's what I'll say it is. The wheelbase on this bike is about 1.5 - 2 inches shorter than my black bike, but I think the apes and mufflers make it look a lot shorter visually. It's still considered an extended hardtail I guess.

Here's a profile shot of the black bike for comparison's sake. The front fork set-up will be identical to this one on the new bike. Believe or not...that top pic is within 1" of ride-height as measured off of this bike. The front end of the bike comes up about another 1" when you put it on the side stand, as seen in this picture.

These are the head pipes I was talking about as well. I'll just have to build a couple of short connector pieces out of some U-bends I've got laying around.

I also wish I could find another set of footpeg brackets like the ones on this bike, but they are apparently '63 only...and pretty rare.

Maurice, I got the blue grips off of ebay, and they are 7/8". I'm not sure where you can get 1" grips since Super Sixties seems to have stopped production...but you might try Flyrite?

Thanks again for the words fellas...

FlynDutchman, there, got your name right.

here's a pic I took of that bike, might have been Oakland. Looks like the sissy bar/gas/oil tank was added. Or taken off before your pic.

B***, the black bike pic is killer, that's still one of the best proportioned TR frames I've seen.

BTW... Some dude offered me all the Easyriders mags from '78 through '97, in perfect condition, for $225,-/$250,-...
Is that a good deal..? A pathetic deal..? Wadda ya think..?

What is the deal on the front end of that oakland winning triumph? Is it an early(pre 1930) hd single or what?
