airspeed indicator identification (WWII??)

    I'm not so sure that it is out of a fighter since it only goes to 160. In 1937 the Messerschmitt 109B could reach aspeed of 209 MPH and subsequent aircraft was even faster yet. That is most likely off of an obeservation plane similar to a stinson or a piper cub.

  4. Certainly not any WW2 fighter or bomber with only 160 kts. May be out of a trainer, might not be military at all. I deal in warbird parts from time to time, and that looks more like 1950s vintage to me. Should have a tag on the back with miltary contract numbers, manufacturer, etc.
     
  5. Ok, sorry, just saw the pic w/ tag. Sorry to tell you, It's 99.99% likely not military. Never ever seen a warbird guage without a contract number. Again I'd say it's out of a '50's general aviation aircraft.
