I've been searching for an overrider to put on the front bumper on my 50 merc, and have had no luck. Does anyone know where to find a repop or original Kaiser overrider???? Or does anyone have any other suggestions? I need to do something.

Its simple Ed. A Kaiser is a car, and an over rider is something that rides ontop of something else.

ex. I would rather be an overrider, than an underrider... :D :D

I know where there is a front one I could get, but I've only heard of people using the rear ones. Should I get this front one? Would anyone want it?

Good question I don't know the difference between the front and rear ones.

I picked mine up at a swapmeet, but I've seen a few on Ebay as well...they're not cheap. Front and rear are different- front goes farther back toward the grill with no horizontal lip, which is ok as it gives you more material to trim. The rear has a lip on it and a license plate light underneath. It also happens to match a '49-'51 Ford decklid perfectly when looking straight down, btw... You can find the bridges more easily than the bullets...

  11. I had one for a long time. Sold it at the Syracuse Nats last summer for $100 with one bullet and that was probably too cheap.

The best way to get one is to buy the whole Kaiser, they're not worth much other than those guards and a few other pieces. Odds are you can take the best parts off one and s**** the rest to recoup the investment.

And I did sell a front one a few years ago, some guys do use them. $75 I think it went for.

So..are the rears more popular than the fronts? I thought they were both the same?

They are definitely different, but I really don't know what the difference between the two is.

  14. I gotta say, I can't see much of a difference in these pics...I wish I had either front or back in front of me.:(

im pretty sure, but not 100%, I thought the only difference between front and rear overriders were that the rear ones have license plate lights., not big difference, but im not 100% sure. either way, both will work good in a custom application.

I'll see if I can get that front one and make it available. I think the fronts have more of a peak to them, although it doesn't show well in that picture.

I had a rear one 3 years ago and got $325 on that auction site. Had it listed here first for $250 with no interest

  18. I want one for the back of my Merc, squablow keep me in mind (PM me thx). I sold a stock '51 'rider recently I decided not to run it.

There were two for sale on the HAMB in the past couple months. My friend Del scooped up a really nice one from Gman for $150!

I might be 100% totally wrong, but I think the front ones have a notch on the top of them to clear some kind of bracketry under the hood, which this one does not have, so I think the one in question is a rear, but don't quote me on that.

They require a pretty good amount of rework to go on a Merc bumper anyway, so I don't know if it'd make a difference or not.
