Tecnically it's a Y-Block, but call it an FE. The FE is the Y-Blocks younger brother brought out to replace it with modern updates and more cubic inches.
Any engine that has a full skirted engine block is technically a Y-Block. Hence, looking at it from one end or the other it resembles the letter " Y " Tom
Yep it's both it's in the FE family but the block is a "Y" block design. Normally just the 239 272 292 and 312 are referred to as a "Y" block the newer 332 352 390 406 410 427 and 428 are referred to as FEs
302 (from 1956, heavy truck engine) was a Y-block, as well as the 332 (enlarged 317, from 1957) truck engine, not to be confused with the FE version (1958). There was a 330 and 361 FE, truck engines, as well.
