i can clearly see only one;)

  6. Don't care for it, looks way too big and bulky for my tastes. And after all you did ask.
Different for the sake of being different is not always good.
And I also agree that the HEI couldn't look more out of place. And contrary to popular belief, they are NOT a good distributor, they are just easy and convenient. There are many inherent design flaws, starting with severe voltage leaks from the coil to inside the cap, poor module design, overheating of coils - I could go on, but I won't

Nice re-work of a found part; dig the matching fins.

I think it's pretty darned cool. I agree with the suggestion of a domed top. Run with the flat top until you can work up a domed top that you like.

And as for the billet guy neighbor who says it looks like an upside down toilet bowl- tell him: "Yours looks like.... everyone else's"

  11. I wouldn't be surprised, if I seen more pop-up, on other cars. The highest form of flattery.

I think it is cool as hell. I used a Sea King cover and a baby moon hubcap for my air cleaner.

  13. No doubt thumbs up to you being creative with what you have or got cheap.

That's my idea of traditional hot rod attitude and ingenuity IMHO

Very cool! I was wondering how I could make a domed top for mine and you came up with the perfect solution! I noticed we are both Hoosiers!!!

    I agree that the HEI isn't vintage,I'd even say they're butt-ugly,
but your comment on the flex hose made me wonder.
I checked some of my ''little books'' and it was used frequently as far back as '54,I didn't dig out any '40's mags.
I figured '54 makes it vintage enough, wouln't you say?;)

Out board motor case?? I think it's cool. Great idea. Most rods are re cycled any ways.

I agree HEI's look way out of place on a hotrod, but I have ran 'em on all my daily drivers for the past ten years or so,when I strayed away from Fords.
I used to be a diehard points guy,and would go out of my way to run 'em.
A sold a Chevelle to a friend about this same time, and part of the deal was,I would keep my brand new points distributor and drop an HEI in the car.
Now keep in mind this car ran fine and was in a good state of tune.
With the HEI in,the car started a lot quicker and throttle response was way better,so that's what I've run ever since.
Didn't really trust it at first, and kept a complete distributor behind the seat as a spare.
I still keep that''spare'' but have never needed it.
With all these ''flaws'' an HEI has,it has worked flawless for me:confused:.

Looks better than most of the stuff I've seen used as air cleaners... I saw a small motorcycle gas tank one in Columbus that wasn't half bad...
