this has been in my grandfather's garage for 30+ years. Any ideas on what to do to it?? it is all original and I am thinking of freshening it up, while keeping it original.

    thanks

that thing on top of the generator is a Judson Electronic Magneto. I have no idea what it does or why it is there. LOL

I was thinking a "chrome off" paint job. What do you guys think???

    Is that original paint?
I would just buff it and drive it.

  8. What a great body style the 1st gen Falcons had. Clean and simple.
Ond of my fave cars. I feel in love with the Sprints in autoshop cl*** in 1971. Two of the guys rebuilt the 260 in it. Cool little car.
    Have fun with it.

It doesn't look like it needs much except a trip to a good detail shop and making sure all of the mechanicals (especially the brakes) are in good working order. Most of those got beat to death way back when as they were pretty quick for their time.

she shows 38K on the odometer. The paint, up close, shows it's age. It has some small areas of cracking etc. Also, there are a few small bubbles under the paint, in a FEW small areas around the wheel wells. I was thinking getting it redone now would save any future issues.

I understand the "it's your car....do what you want", but since you seem interested in hearing other's opinions......here's mine. Preserve the car in it's original form. These things are pretty scarce, especially in the very nice original and unrestored condition yours appears to be. I have one of these, decent, but not as nice as yours, especially the interior. Hope you will seriously consider keeping it original. I don't think you'll ever regret doing so.

yes...it's rare...the das tach was a factory option - doesn't look like it in the inside pic...it should say "Sprint" on the dial I'm sure...think there is an after market one on it....look around in gramps garage for the original one...this is a survivor car and survivors now are getting their due...keep the restro simple....nice car!!!

and a little Mustang ****....see the steering wheel on the Sprint?...when you ordered the wood grain wheel option on the new Mustangs - take the cap off in the center of the wheel....and it said..... "Sprint"...

Clean it up, detail it, and have fun! I'm sure you've already figured out that the Falcon Sprint V8 combo is a blast to drive. Plenty of horses to scoot that light little car around. Brings back memories.....

Well if you don't want to give it to me, you could just clean her up and drive it.
    Super nice, cool, car.
    Maybe wheels, maybe.

I had to go look at the pics again, boy I like this car!!

I'd remove the magneto thingy, don't see how it could be of much benefit, find and install a correct Sprint tach, which was part of the original Sprint package, detail, and enjoy. Way too nice an original to hot rod, and these were plenty cool stock.

If it were mine, I'd detail it, replace the carpet, and lower it a little. Otherwise it needs nothing.

I think your pretty much getting the message that this one should remain unaltered. A friend had one when they were new and it was a blast to drive/ride. Follow throughwith your refreshening and drive it.

I have High School memorys in a Sprint just like that one, same color combo, but with a 4 speed.
It belonged to a good friend car buddy. We'd go to V.N. blvd in it etc.
We spun it out in the rain one night trying to spin the tires in 3rd.
So then it got traded for a 66 L79 Nova, much safer.

I still like the center consols, and would put one in my 35 it it would fit.

Thanks for the suggestion on blending, I had not thought of that. I will get some quotes on the minor body work and paint blending.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, keep any info coming as I am new to falcons. Until Pop died, I was a bowtie guy (used to drag a camaro) and now I am learning the FoMoCo thing.

I love the look of an old orig car. I would just clean it up and drive the piss out of it. That is a great looking car!

you should paint it flat black, with red wheels and red scallops. put some skulls and iron crosses on it.

    then it would be cool.

In all seriousness, clean it up a bit, buff that paint, and drive the **** out of it. Nice little car you've got there. You could maybe make a sleeper out of it. Take the hubcaps off, and add some skinny cheater slicks in the rear...
