So this week before the holidays i went out and got my valve cover CHROMED OUT.This is what you get in Brooklyn,NYC for $200.00 (ouch!).Guy said it was a BIG piece to chrome, thats why it was so much he told me.I said "WHAT THE HELL,JUST DO IT" and this is what I got. What do you think? From this To This
Damm, Nice work can you tell me his address or # I'm in long Island & I hate shipping **** to be chromed. Pete
N U chrome in fall river m***achusetts said they would chrome a straight 8 valve cover for $125 if i stripped the paint off , id still like to home cast a finned aluminum valve cover for mine like a cal custom type
I'm feelin' it! $200 is a dent in the wallet for sure, but how much would you have paid for one at a swap meet? Or on Evilbay? $125+ I'll bet. Perfect one like yours, even more. It's going to look real nice on top of that engine.
Jeeze...when I read your subject header, I thought maybe you meant that had gone and gotten yourself chromed and my immediate thought was - 'Wow! That's just a bit too extreme....even for a HAMBER!!!! <LOL> Super-nice job on the valve cover! Three 'thimbs up' on that! mart
Wilco Finishing Corp. 1288 Willoughby ave Brooklyn,NY 11237 718-417-1060 Hope this helps you out! -Ralphy
oh yeah, the turnaround time is 48-72 hrs on a job like my valve cover. They are fast and do a good job.Its in da'Hood so if it does not come out the way I want it..."DO IT AGAIN PAL" is what I'd tell the chrome dude..LOL
Looks good but watch out !!!! Chrome is the new crack ... Youll start selling anything to get more chrome !
Atleast now you can come your hair while your changing your plugs. If your in da hood you can also see if someone sneeking up on you from behind while your hoods up.
I think you got a nice price on that one. I've had stuff done at Frankford in Philly and they are higher than that. Plus whatever they quote you turns higher after it's actually done.... Not to mention the 3 months of waiting. Next time I'll send my stuff to Wilco!
looks good....chances are in Brooklyn it was done using all the old school techniques/nasty chemicals, etc. so it should hold up ...the EPA guys are afraid to go in there they might end up in one of the vats .
It looks great, but you'd better get to work cleaning and painting it's environment. Or maybe that big, chrome valve cover will be so mesmerising to onlookers, it's the only thing they'll see.
OK. Just looked at the pics on your profile page and saw the more recent engine photos. It's gonna look purty on there.
you did not get robbed. as a former plater, I can say you found a good shop that knows what they're doing and gives a **** about thier reputation. That's why we drop good money...to get the good stuff. It looks KICK-***!
you tellin me...sheeeesh! thanx man! I'm trying to make her look a little Purdier for the road! and you know you da'man thats gonna stripe "THE SLED" so I had to "keep it real" everybody has been real kool with the positive feedback on the loot I dropped on the lid and the quality work on it.Really Appreciate it coming from all of you'z on here....Thanx!
It's so purty... That is right about what I would charge, but we are more like 4 weeks out right now, and were up to 9 weeks this Spring. A few days for turnaround and a proper job is possible if it is started on right away and doesn't have to wait for the tanks to be free. I've always got the tanks full with more in line, so geting something done that quick requires holding everything else back some. Like was mentioned, the durability of the plating will tell you what kind of deal you got. For that price they should give you a warranty of some sort. Even with the best of platings, keeping it clean and waxed is a must; mother nature will eventually destroy what we make shiny, even if it takes 100 years.
