Found this online and fell in love. Car is not mine (I wish). Just thought I would share it... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CvqNgDysv8U&NR=1
when they run the tires under the 1/4 panels like that. it just looks street freak to me. i dont like that look i guess ..
I apologise that my website is down at the moment, I hope to have it up in a day or so. Yes, the quarter panels do set above the outer edge of the rear tires. I have a story about this on my website, it is ***led "Disaster averts disaster". The previous tires did fit inside the quarters. After a few burnouts Van thought it would be o.k. to run. He did not have to do any serious braking in the burnouts though. Under acceleration, the body lifted away from the tires, no problem. However, at speed the tires would have grown and braking would have pulled the body back down. Had the car made a full run it may well have shredded with even more disastrous results than what happened. I will post when my website is up and running again so the guys can read about the unusual history of the car. I have signboards that explain the history but there is not enough room at the museum to display it all. I was giving away some nice souveneir post cards at the museum that list my website so people can read about it, I'm saving up for the second printing.
That is just an amazing car with the story to back it up. Also the fact that you are keeping your buddies legacy alive along with the car it just does not get any better than that.
Kudos to You, You did the right thing with the Mr. Chevy G***er. It was a huge influence when I built My 55 g***er. Now if we could just get Butch Thuney to get his '55 g***er out.
