I built this 34 dodge car hauler many years ago and sold it to a friend, I wish I still had it. and now I plan to build a club cab COE similar to the one below with a dodge cab and ***mins powered
went ahead and bought an Isuzu box truck and am planning to build a hauler bed for it. probably have to extend the frame to get the wheelbase right. will post sme pics soon. I pulled the pin, Sarge...now what?
You might get a few ideas from my thread......... Mine will be a hauler once I have the garage space for it.... (extending the frame on these monsters is actually quite easy.......) http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=355535&highlight=diesel
You are probably doing it the right way as it's hard to find a used car hauler set up exactly the way you want it and not be thinking of the changes you would make even before you get the deal done. I bought a set of plans for a tilt bed trailer off Ebay a few years ago and haven't built the trailer yet and am just about thinking that I can buy a trailer that will do every thing I need for less than I can build this one for. When you add up steel, deck material, axles and hardware plus a set of wheels and tires the numbers add up in a hurry.
got the bed & ramps on the former box truck & retrofitted the cab with an old chevy grille. may post some pics. up and running for about 2500 smackers. saw it...wanted it...threw a fit...got it!
here is my 48' trailer, I like a full deck with a lot of tie downs because you never know what you my bring back home.
I'd have nowhere to park THAT!... Great idea, but my neighbors would have fits! the 18' hauler takes up more space than I need as it is...
