I agree,,I would guess that most people that post a bad rating would never admit it,,,,If I do it I'll admit it.

So just to try to right a wrong someone unjustly cast on this thread I'm gonna try and bump it to the top and give it a better rating!:D HRP

I can't believe I just read every post on this thread...... Yep, it is a slow day!

  5. I'm in total agreement....Example...If I'm selling a part at a Flea and I'm asking $75...someone will pick up the part and say "can you do any better?" I say , sure....$100.00...Ha, that always gets a laugh.
Seriously, If you don't agree with a price for a part or car or whatever, you can negotiate or just move on. Every sellers situation is different and we've all experienced the highs and lows of what we purchased and the $$ we paid. Rating ads are a joke....until some idiot rates your ad...then you get irritated. Do away with the ratings because opinions are like ***_ _ _ _ _!

Me either, I never understood the need to rate anything on the HAMB. If I like the subject, I read it. If I don't I just go on to something else. A rating is just one persons opinon...............and that's what it's worth..0 (thats ZERO folks)

  9. I wanted to come on here and rant about cl***ified ratings this morning, but being a good little HAMB'r I did a search first to see if the topic had been covered, read this thread, and had a good laugh.

EVERY part or car I have ever tried to sell on the HAMB has received a 1 star rating, and every one has sold...eventually, and at or near my asking price. Almost always I will check back in with the folks to make sure that they're happy too (call it a side-effect of having my own business for most of my adult life). I'd say thats a fair bit of evidence that you shouldn't get upset just because somebody gave your cl***ified a poor rating, but at the same time, it'd be kinda fun if the ratings weren't anonymous. ;)

That being said, maybe I would get higher ratings if I sold things WELL below fair market value, but then I wouldn't be able to afford to play with hot rods anymore.

I think some of you are missing the point entirely. I'll be the first to admit that I have indeed rated cl***ifieds, sometimes good, sometimes bad, and it has nothing at all to do with the price of the item(s). If someone, especially someone on their very first post places a cl***ified ad with some rambling *** description, multiple misspellings, no picture, then the next day, posts pictures, then two days later bumps it to the top, yes I'll give it a one star rating. If someone posts a thoughtfully ***embled cl***ified, with a great and thorough description, multiple good photos, follows the rules, waits three days to bump it, yes I'll give it a five star rating. The mods have their hands full and can't possibly keep up with all of the ads that get placed and police them all. I know for a fact that one particular individual posts regularly vehicles for sale, bumps it three days later, then deletes the bump the NEXT day so he can bump it again thereby cheating other ads and keeping his near the top. And yes, I've given his ads a one star rating. So you see, it has nothing to do with prices. I could care less about that, but I do hate to see clowns constantly try to cir***vent the rules.

  15. I never thought about it but I just may start rating my own ads. I mean hell if it will get someone wound up. :D:D:D

I like jeff and no doubt others as well think that the whole rating system is silly. I have looked at the stars but if there are or are not stars it is no biggy I read what sounds interesting or what looks interesting.

I think there is a place to bad mouth sellers already called the bad sellers list or something. I am not sure where it is but I have heard of it. Someone told me that I'm not on it, I can't imagine why not; surely not everyone I have sold something to is happy. Hell some times the fella doesn't even let me know he got it. :p

I'm with you p&b, i sell items and sometimes don't even hear back when they get it:cool: I see some items with severall 1 star ratings, i think it is because the asking price is two or more times than the items worth:confused:. Other times i think it's because a buyer has maybe had bad dealings with the seller before and is trying to get back at them? Also i have seen bad ratings on items with many BTTT's, sometimes more than one page. I tend to look at the items with star ratings, maybe this is a selling feature:eek:...all just my opinion.

I never really got the star thing. It was only recently that I noticed the damn things. If I'm looking for something those stars mean nothing to me. This reminds me of evilbay feedback thing, that's why I try to find the junk I'm looking here and Ford Barn, because it our community and I have never been screwed buying from HAMBer's or the Ford Barn. So long story short, I don't pay attention to those little stars.

    Really????
So you crowned yourself "Self appointed Moderator"? Who asked you to do this ? ,... Is it even what the moderators would do ?, did you report these things or even check with them before you took it upon yourself to do something so childish ?,... I guess if the moderators don't care,... And didn't ask you to do it in the first place, you should just leave it alone.

Yes I reported them and I really think it's a bit childish that you keep beating this dead horse.

You reported them,... the moderators did nothing,... so you appointed yourself to do something ? ,.... That would obviously be the more childish act. And if you haven't figured this out yet,.. your opinion means exactly zero to me.
