Well thats a good question. I got out my bronzed baby shoes to take a look. It seems that they might be a bit dark, but maybe not.

Son Tom has gone online and found a "new" wonder solution for brass cleaning. It's called oillift.com. It's out of Vancouver B.C.. I think that the brass is buffed with olive oil and sealed with a water base sealer of some kind after it's cleaned.. Iv'e ordered it. I'm still hoping to pick up exterior chrome this week. I'll call tomorrow.

The other thing that I'm in need of is about 10" of 3M clear double back tape. A roll on Ebay is just short of $600.00. Iv'e tried other brands/types of clear tape and they arn't strong enough. I think a big sign shop would have this but I've not found one. Help!

The problem with the brass inserts has put our push to get to the upholstery shop on hold. The interior is going to have to take a back seat (sorry) to the other things that can be done while we wait.

The dash area is almost done. The radio is waiting for the wiper connection to the engine (vacuum) to be made.

I will go up north tomorrow to pick up the exterior chrome.

I went up and got my chrome (f end). The rear was not ready.

I was told that anodizing is done on aluminum only. There may be a "bright dip" that will resolve the corrosion issue. The investigation continues.

I asked a guy about em that I knew had an inside track. He said he might have some sticks and if not he knew where to get em (post #166). There was an attempt (?) made to get some to me with some promises that weren't kept. My efforts to get him to tell me were I can get em have been met with silence. So unless something changes this is where I'm at.

Thanks Eric, how did I know you'd show up? I appreciate it! The pipes on that site are too long (66") and theyr'e galvanized. The "kid" is referenceing the 53" thats correct. It's what I need.

Well son Dan has talked me into waiting to get the car off of the stands to finish the fit on the lakers. The ripple pipe can percolate a little bit and see what happens. The "everybody chairs man" may not include everyone. I'll give a report after a while

Wer'e finishing up the rear and then we'll move to the front and install the grille and f bumper.

I hear ya on the scarecity of those pipes, but I gotta be honest with you. You've come this far to clone a car that no one has cloned before. This is going to stick out like a sore thumb and I know they are easily changed down the road, but I would do everything in my power to come across the correct set before I would debut the car. If its not done, don't show it til it is. We've waited this long, we'll wait longer. JMO.

That being said I watch every post you make and I think I'm as anxious as you are. Great work!

  18. Couldn't the longer pipe be cut in the middle of one of the high points on the ripple and then welded back together at the shorter length required?

OG Fenton ripple pipes are 1 3/4" diameter. The ripple pipe for sale on here is 2". I don't know if Junior used Fenton or not but my hunch is you would have to reduce the diameter of modern pipe to make it an "authentic" diameter. I agree with Slow, I mean you have gone to extreme pains to replicate authenticity. Why stop now?

  20. Someone on the HAMB has got to have these pipes or line on them for Jivin Jer, maybe the person that had spoke to him about would be nice enough and try to get a hold of him and help a fella out. I have been watching this build from the start and it's the best thread right now ! way to go Jivin Jer !

I have some of that pipe but only enough for my own use. I just can't get anymore. FedEx lost the last 2 extras that I had. I'm out some cash and my last 2 pipes on them being stupid. If I can find anymore you are more than welcome to it. But at the moment there is none available.

The only pipe I still have is for my own project and I can't get rid of it. Sorry. I'm still looking.

I appreciate you checking in. The thing that's got me confused is you said "I know where to get some". Did you misspeak?

My bad. I thought I did. It fell through. I've been in and out of the hospital and we just had our first baby. I've been a little preoccupied. I'll do a little more checking. I can't promise anything though. I'll let you know mid next week.
