You said some naughty words in this forum that both begin with "R". I'd suggest you visit some tire websites and find a tire size calculator chart. Get to know the landscape around here before you say the "RR" word again.

Need to know a little more about what your trying to do. I might suggest looking in the Coker tire catalog or web sight to get an insight as to what fits what. That would be for bias type tires. If your looking to radials, search out a tire wholesaler in your area and see if you can get a current product book. I always go after the current B.F. Goodrich book myself, as they still make allot of 15" tires these days. Both of these options will give you an idea of tire diameter and what width wheels they will fit. And just for the record, rat rod is a dirty word - hell, out here it might start a fight! P.S. I just reread your original post, and I've got to say that the diameters you are looking for are much more common to 16" wheels, so that might be a way to go. Might also go a bit shorter on the front to get a bit better rake.

I run 5.60 15 (pretty close) Coker Cl***ics on the front of my sedan on some later model Ford rims. They're a little too wide in my opinion but they've worked fine for going on three years now.

It's hard if not impossible to find any radials 30" in dia, The tallest at reasonable prices is A Firestone V rated radial 27.5" TYhis is a special firehawk for police cars.

Actually, if you look at B.F. Goodrich's book, they offer a 235/80-15 in a lt type tire that has an ok looking tread that checks in at about 29".

in bias ply tires they use a number like 5.00, 5.60, 6.00, 7.00 and so one.

you can basically run anysize bias ply on those rims. I am running a 8.90 tire on a 5.5 width rim. go to Coker tire and look up their bias ply tires and they give width and diameter. its a good way to learn. the smaller the number the narrower and shorter the tire.

hey boones would it look dumb to have a 5 inch wide tire on a 5.5 inch rim.this is all new to me.i just dont have the funds to buy something and hope that it fits or looks right. thanks for all of your help hamb's.

  14. If your talking about 15" your options are limited. Still, I think it can be done and off the shelf 15" tires are the most cost effective way to get a project on the road. A 30" rear tire is about perfect for Model A's & 32's-34's.

I went with 15x5.5 front's and 15x7 rears in a typical steel smoothie wheel because I already had a set of nice caps that would fit them.

As said earlier a 165r15 front works well which is what I used. About 40 bucks from discount tire if I remember.

The rears are a little harder to get right but I went with a 265/75/15 Uniroyal Cross Country radial. It's really about the only way to get a true 30" height from a 15" wheels. The tread pattern is a nice block style pattern that reminds me of a dirt track tire if you squint hard enough. :D

The other option is the 285/70/15 BFG's that Coker is reproducing but they're pricey and aren't really made by BFG anyway.

I turned the white letters in and painted the letters black with tire paint so the wouldn't be noticeable up under the car. Then I smoothed the side walls front and rear so the would have no letters and painted them as well. I think the proportions are on the money for a dirt style car and I'm gonna roll them on my 32 I'm building.

    Here's a few shot's...
