That Plymouth looks like it is called Queen Bee. I remember a pro stock very similar at dragway 42 in the 70's. JC
That is the original "AL GARY" D/G Vega campaigned on the east coast in the 70s. It was bought by the Timosyzk brothers ( yes the gasser boys from Detriot) in the early 80s and not raced again until now. 302 SBC 5 speed Nash Dana 60 Great old school car.
That IS the original "Queen Bee" pro stock car still owned by Billy "the KID" Lyons in Cleveland OH. 426 Hemi 4 speed Lenco
I watched the posted videos yesterday. The timing board was blurred so I couldn't see the times. Looked like 10's and 9 second range?
The red 68 Camaro with the snorkel and Black 73 Duster were running 9.60s The red 69 Camaro and Blue 72 Duster were running 9.90s The red 67 Camaro with grump limp was as fast as 9.80s that night, the vega was 10.40s
Seeing Debs & Ralph Ridgeway on it figured it was from northeast, heard Paul Blevins vega was in the area, thanks Racemad
The Timoszyk Brothers blew the Dana up on the closed session Friday night test and tune for the Pro Stock cars. Took the rear end apart and had it back together for Saturday. Ever try to rebuild a Dana at the track with just hand tools ? It sucks.
I'm very impresssed with the event. My brother, who raced Pro Stock in the early days in NED 1, has often talked about doing his Duster again but hasn't because of not having other guys who really, really want to do it just like back in the day. This group has something good going on.
Nostalgia Pro Stock is the "missing piece" at any nostalgia drag race. They were the ultimate factory hot rods that every kid dreamed of building. Early Pro stock is what made me fall in love with drag racing in the first place.
I grew up in Springfield (where Debs was located) and currently live in the same town as Ralph. Awesome shots.
