Just picked up the new issue of Rodders Journal this morning at So-Cal Phoenix's second Saturday gig... The tech pages are back!!! Woo hoo! After #47 and being m***ively disappointed, it's so nice to have back a feature that I loved about one of my favorite magazines. Nice blend of stuff as usual, The Burke tank recreation, The Hollingsworth nomad, the Mura Willys drag truck, early speed shop catalog overlook... Looks like I know what I'm doing the rest of today!

That's why I don't subscribe... that and the thrill of the hunt! I've never missed one though.

Three weeks? Try the next two months.......I am really debating about re-subscribing when I can find it on the news stand or @ Pete & Jakes with the "flip" cover before it ever arrives in my mail box.

I could only hope mine will be here in three weeks. They must mail them alphabetically.

Isn't not subscribing again hurting the people who give us these magazines. I would sooner subscribe and help support the magazine, rather than not just so I can get it sooner....

No, it's not hurting them at all. Prioritizing everyone before the subscribers does hurt them, though. The publishers are the only people who can fix such a business practice and avoid whatever pains that are caused. They lost me years ago after too many missed issues, empty promises of corrections and double issues as I am not willing to wait for my issue weeks after some book store has sold out. They still sell them to me at the news stand, but not every issue now.

Boy I sure didn't want to turn this into a complaint fest about subscriptions and such, but I should have known that is a touchy subject. They do get my business every quarter at the newsstand no matter what, because I firmly believe that it is the best product on the stand. I too subscribed when that was the only means of getting it. I too was upset by missed release dates and 3 issues instead of 4 per year. But when it got my house, without fail, the day was trashed for getting anything done! I just wanted to say thanks to the powers that be for listening to a bunch of out here and reinstating the tech pages. I use that for quick reference more than any part of a book. P.S. Those that know me know that I am an automotive paper freak and constantly wonder why I don't subscribe to any thing... I think I can admit here that I have this weird little curse that has followed me almost all my life. Simply put, if I write a check and subscribe to a magazine, no matter how strong and old the ***le, it will be out of business before the next release cycle! Starting with CAR MODEL and MODEL CAR SCIENCE magazine in the early seventies, through Rodders Digest, American Rodder, Hot Rod Mechanix, and on and on... all killed moments after I said "sign me up!"

  19. Got mine today. Thought they jumped the shark with #47. However, #48 seems, at first glance, to be back to the usual high standard.

I hope it was a momentary lapse, because you can't un-jump the shark.

Boy, that doesn't ring any bells for me and my weird "magazine ninja" senses. I'll do a bit of looking this afternoon, though.
