‎1928 Essex pulled out of an old ranch near me. The man wants $8,500 for it. Seems kind of a lot unless this is some rarity. Anyone knowledgeable enough on old cars to comment? It has original 1928 plates front and back. boont
Welcome to the HAMB. Car looks good enough to leave as is and not restore. Asking price is way high IMO, and there aren't that many stock Essex guys around. You may want to post that info on the AACA Forum in the Hudson/Essex section.
Also here on the Hudson forum: http://classiccar.com/index.php?option=com_jfusion&Itemid=62&jfile=forumdisplay.php&f=13 I agree - a LOT of money. Assuming it's running and it has a title, I'd think $5K would be reasonable. No more than that, by any means.
I have a 28 Essex street rod in the garage. My son and I built it when he was in high school. They are nice cars much heaver frame than a model A. Not much wood. But the price is to high, they do not have that good of a resale price. But they should because they really are good cars.
I have a 29 Essex and a friend of mine has a 28 that a street rod same body as this one he wants 28000 for it its nice but not that nice... I have been seeing more and more of them poping up for sell.As for the price for this one not to bad if it runs and drives IMO......
To much money, I am currently building a '28 4dr street rod. for $9-10K you can get a nice running one that needs no work. Dan 28 Essex not quite stock
Tell the owner to ebay it, and when he realizes that his barrett jackson fever doesn't quite jive with the real world, you'll be happy to come back and give him $3500 for it.
