'40' Ford coupe, last of the block sanding

I sprayed the last (hopefully) filler primer this morning. I hope to finish block sanding in the next couple of days and then paint in the near future. It's always nice to get the block sanding finished on the body - the doors and fenders are not so daunting for me. The body was in pretty good shape, no real rust issues, but is never as nice as you thought it was before sanding. It will look old timey, but with a nice ride (benefit of fat fenders - can't see suspension), nice '350' engine, and a T56 six speed. Hopefully, it will be a great cruiser. Dirtcop

Looks like the hard work is done. I wish mine was that far along. I had a coupe with the same set up and it rode great. The ch***is and body look primo.

Got the paint on finally. Dupont Chroma Premier - single stage. I'm in the middle of color sanding now. I had to paint it twice, first time it was a little too light blue. Added a little black to get the grey-blue I was looking for. It's actually a little more grey than picture shows. I painted it in my shop behind my house. It is always nice to get to this stage of rod building. Lots more room in the shop and can see the end of the project.

Is the flat finish what you were looking for or is it getting a shiny coat eventually?

Very nice work. Those cars are waaay bigger than they look when you are sanding 'em....

Those pos-a-traction torque twisters bring back some memories..

Good luck with the rest of her. -Abone.

That's an interesting color. The car looks great, so far. Can't wait to see the final results. Nice job.

Color sanding to wheel out or color sanding for some type of clear coat?

I'm color sanding the single stage paint. It's actually a gloss, just doesn't show it in photo. I like black and red '40' Fords, but I like a little different colors. Once trim and wheels are on, the color should really "pop".

Sweet ride. My last car was a 40 Deluxe coupe. I sold it when I found out my wife had cancer. Thought I might need some money for bills. My insurance paid for everything but $600.00. Damn I miss that car. Enjoy yours, I enjoyed looking at it.
