My friend, Frank Oglesby is going in for coronary byp*** surgery tomorrow. Drag race fans will know who he is, and if you don't, Google up then. Frank has been around drag racing since long before the first funny cars. He is one of the greats. He has driven evrything from SS to Jet Cars. Owned the Mello Yello F/C. It would take too much typing for my clumsy fingers to list all that Frank has brought to the racing community. It gives me no little pleasure to mention one of the all time greats with out it being a note of their p***ing. Today's technology is a wonderful thing, and Frank will be around a long time more to p*** his insight and humor to us. Those of us who have to Google this info will be taken on a trip through the golden years of the drags. Anyway, I'm going to print out the responses and mail them to him at the hospital. Having laid in the ICU after heart surgery myself, I know just how important that touch from the real world can be. Get well Frank. Chili Phil Cox

Please p*** my wishes on to Frank ..always had great times racin against him with our FC in the early days ...
If you can pilot a flopper in the 70's, then you can get well soon. If you get your funny car stolen and still wanna go race, then you can get well soon. If you can convince Beswick to go blown nitro racing, then you can get well soon. If you can wheel Dyno Don's Cougar, then you can get well soon. Get well soon Frank. Welcome to the zipper club.
I have enjoyed Frank's post's on other forums in the past, Get Well and and write a book ( if you already have where do I get one?)
Frank sure should write a book. I'm sure the statute of limitations has run out on most of those stories. I'd especially love a book of stories from the ramp truck days.
If the story I heard... about Frank jumping OUT of a burning funny car at speed, was true, Then this will be a minor deal for him. Best wishes to one of my heros. Get well soon Frank! Mike
Mike ALL stories about Oglesby are true. He's not a Texan, he's from Georgia. He'll come through this alright, I know. But we'll all be better on the HAMB, if we can coax some stories from him, when he feels better. He's a great guy.
Tuesday, the 24th is the day for Frank's tune up. Had to get the heart strong enough for the surgery. And add a little timing. Here's to one of the good ones Get well soon, Frank.
I don't usually respond to these things,, But I worked with his son Mike a few years ago. Get well soon Frank,, Hope you have many more adventures to come!
I've never met him, but his reputation proceeds him. Certainly a legend in Georgia drag racing. Best wishes for speedy recovery.
Frank is doing ok now, he is building me an engine for my sons car to go back to Maxton. I wish he would write a book, I would be the 1st in line to buy it. I love to here his stories of the old days!!!
Condolences to the the Oglesby Family and Friends on the p***ing of Frank...life is short...he seems to have had some good times for some time after the operation...we can take some comfort in his doing what he was p***ionate about even despite declining health... Sorry @Chili Phil for your loss of a personal friend and thank you for sharing this news of his p***ing...may he rest in peace. Regards, Stogy
In 2007 get well was cool and respectful but you really should think about changing the ***le, Frank survived another 12 years but now that he has p***ed away the sentiment should be in memory or something more appropriate. HRP
I maybe should have changed the ***le, Danny. I'm sorry. Oglesby has was a bad*** a**** bad***es. I thought he'd live forever. In my life, I've been able to know some smart people. Frank was, and will remain at the top. No, he ain't going to get well. But resurrecting this old get well thread might let some people know that he's p***ed on.
What a shame. I didn't know him but I first knew OF him by his great posts on a couple of other sites. From there the name kept coming up whenever legends of drag racing were talked about. He was a smart, fun loving and serious compe***or during the best years of drag racing. Like someone said, I wish he had written a book. I hope the folks collecting historical drag racer interviews at least interviewed him for their archives. R.I.P. Frank.
