Last fall, I scored these Thrush sidepipe exhaust tips at the Hershey, PA swapmeet. I'd never seen any before (at least, none that I remember). I've done a little bit of searching and haven't found any sort of ad or information on them. I'm hoping that some of my fellow HAMB'r greybeards remember these things and can enlighten me on them (what did Thrush call them, when were they marketed, etc). Thank you for your time and ***istance.

Well, thus far, there have been 169 people view this thread and yet no one has posted anything about remembering seeing these items advertised when they were new. Now I don't feel so bad about not remembering them (my memory is so bad that I keep forgetting that I can't remember!).

  8. sure i have seen them .. they needed to have the exhaust run back forward on most cars to work like a trans am or camaro.. and on vans they would have been the better choice ... kind of spendy back then ..... the fact you have them bears that out as they would have been saved when the vehicle was sold
    good score

They were popular with the early 70's van crowd and I think originally aimed at the super car or pseudo super car brigade. If you were to dig up a batch of mid 70's van magazines you would probably see some and maybe in some of the rags like Popular Hotrodding from the same era.
Paperdog seems to know them pretty well as it did take some tricky exhaust work on some cars to make them work and at the time they were fairly spendy as far as a lot of us making 5.00 or so an hr at the time thought

I'm not interested in trading them, at this time. I'm still trying to decide between running them on one of my cars or selling them. I've held them up under the '55 Chevy's quarter panel several times and thinking - Hmmm!

Before I forget, I wanted to express my thanks to each of you that responded. I thought that they looked cool, but I'd never seen any before. I have all of my car magazines (from around 1964 to present). I'll have to dig out some of the 70's era magazines and look for Thrush ads. Google didn't find any kind of ad or mention of these items. When I bought them, I was thinking that this might be something inspired by the '70 AAR 'cuda sidepipes. If they were offered during the van craze days, that would explain why I missed them (just married, no money, and not interested in any of the new vehicles - especially a van).

I had an identical set, although I got them at a s**** yard so I don't know what era they were from. I sold them to a guy who was going to use them on an AMX, he seemed real happy to get them, but I ***ume they are a period aftermarket accessory from the early 70's.

All I can say is I had a hotrod muffler shop from 1979-2006 and I never hooked one of these up. I put plenty of Thrush side pipes on all those ugly Dodge vans but never anything like these. They never sold well in my area and going by your responses...nowhere else either.

Sorry so late to this thread. Been a while since I looked for these. My dad bought a set for his street rod between 69'-71'. I love them, and have pulled some images from postings. They are called Duals. If you decide not to use them I am certainly interested!

I had 2 sets on a '64 Ford Country Sedan with a 427 medium rise 2×4 bbl and a quad exhaust. I have been looking for some for my '91 Tbird, so if you are interested in selling them or know where I can locate some. Please let me know, thanks.

They look like something that would be right at home under one of those new fangled Dodge Challengers....
