Hi, A friend of mine told me that i should check out this forum so i've been lurking for while. I dont know too much about cars but what i do know is that i love working on them ( with help of some friends ) and feeling accomplished after fixing something while stuggleing with it for half the day. My first car was a 73 Nova which i sold, then i bought a 65 Fairlane and i just recently traded my Fairlane for a 51 Pontiac. I keep getting older cars and come to realize that the older your car is, the harder it is to get parts for it. Thanks, Sammy
Being that Ive been in bed with the fli for days Ive read tha entire HAMB twice, I saw this on anothr post and thoudht it was great that you got yourself in a 50s ride for a 65 Fairlane. Must have been a nice 65. Welcome
00 MACK, the Fairlane was in good shape but not the best. I think it was more of being in the right place at the right time. We both liked each others cars so much that we decided to swap. No money, just pinks.
Welcome. What a cherry pie Poncho! I've seen it on here too (unless there's more than one black pontiac out there?). Yeah, the parts search is harder (somewhat), but the rewards are greater, too...Enjoy...........................
Welcome Sammy- Its Jay here, Mike's friend. Glad you made it- This place is a wealth of facts, fiction and friends- You'll learn a ton, for sure! jay
That sure was SOME trade! Don't let the big guys steal yer lunch money or date yer sister....wait wrong forum Brandy
[ QUOTE ] I keep getting older cars and come to realize that the older your car is, the harder it is to get parts for it. ... [/ QUOTE ] Welcome and stick around... Youll learn how to drive that old car and keep it running by "hotrodding" it with newer, more readily available parts instead of the "unobtainium" parts it was built with. Even Jay Leno, a few years ago a die-hard "everything's gotta be factory stock" restorer is getting into cars that only look stock but underneath are full blown modern "sports" cars. like his '56 Buick Roadmaster with all Corvette suspension and similarly chassied '66 Olds Toronado. Most guys here at the HAMB use more mundane parts than new Corvette suspension, (although there is a 49 Merc being built by a HAMBer with Vette stuff) but you'll soon see what's possible.
if you traded that for your fairlane. can i see pics of the fairlane cause that was one hell of a trade.
Nice ride, welcome. The older the cars get the coller they get. I traded my 73 Nova SS for my 60 Olds 88.
Nice car Sammy, and welcome. I have a '62 pontiac sitting in my garage. Not as old as yours but it sure is fast.
Hey thanks for all your responces everyone!! Well i got one request for a pic of my Fairlane but i'm sure everyone's a little curiouse to see what i traded for this Poncho so here it is.
Hey Sammy! You took the plunge! I knew my post about your car would push you a little closer to HAMB-dom. Yeah, y'all should know that Sammy is one helluva bartering maniac. I think he paid a total of $400 for that Fairlane and then straight traded for the Poncho. I was blown away. Mike
You got yourself a hell of a deal on that Poncho. It's a slick looking car, it just needs to be sitting a bit closer to earth . Welcome to the HAMB.
Wow what a nice chop on the Poncho! The wonders of Photoshop always made my cars that much cooler. I will bring her down a bit, but for now i'm just trying to get running good enough to take her on the freeway. Thank's for all your help with my car Mike! With out you i would never known how to do half the stuff i did to fix my car and get her on the road. Slowly but surely, I'm learning a ton of stuff about fixing that puppy.
