I apologize right off the bat for not typing all this and posting the many photo's right here on this site. It's just that it took me so long to do - I have to go with a link. Oh they are for sale now. We've taken orders for months and about 65-70% of the limited runs to be made is already spoken for. All will come from us here (no wholesale to dealers on these cars), and no credit cards are charged until they arrive here and we start shipping them out. Or we can call you for a check or money order when they come in, but reserve them now. Either online from our site www.Supercar1.com or calling us at 763/425-6020 Mon-Fri daytime. Reservations suggested, and you get free shipping to the US48 if you do this in advance. I'll look for the orders online or await your calls...? They should be cooooool.
We are having extra wheel & tire packages made (Torque Thrusts with skinnies & slicks) made at the same time, so people can order the unlettered Test Mule, and graphic it yourself? We have no decal packages, as we'd never have the right ones... So we just offer the blank cars & wheels/tires to do one youself. One just needs a decal source. So who makes decals?
There is a company out there called SLI** decals. Check them out. They have all kinds of decals for 1/25 & 1/24 scale stuff. Never looked for 1/18 but maybe.
CECIL YOTHER WAS HERE! I'll start with a photo of Cecil with Scott looking at the 1:18 version of his altered wheelbase Plymouth. He's quite a guy... and really liked the 1:18 die cast of his old racer. This was actually really great timing as Scott was in the process of making comments to the factory tomorrow (7/21/10) of the "just before production" sample 1:18 car we just received. Cecil was very helpful in pointing out a few items we didn't know about, so these cars will end up extremly close to what the real car looked like. Most questions were answered right away, but it's been 45 years since he first drove this beast, so a little head scratching was needed on a couple of Scott's inquiries. It was also determined that he did run with headlight covers on this car, and we're glad because Scott had these added for the final sample. Cecil also shared some of his early days... like in his "middle twenties" driving a '64 GTO B/Stock to 30 wins - of 31 events entered. He was running 12.50's with it, and in fact that was the fastest he ran until steping in to the AWB car. On his first day with that (this '65 awb) he was running 10.50's! He was also fairly proud of getting his car down to just 2500 lbs (said LOT's of work) and also said it was the lightest of the '65 AWB cars. Cecil later raced an AMC dealer area backed Javelin for a summer, and a '70 Cuda Pro Stock he did well with in regional compe***ion. He raced full time a total of 4 years, all while in his 20's. Had to have been fun! We then went to dinner for some lighter conversation, and he was on his way. Quite a guy, and it was a real pleasure to meet him.
Just so you know... the company who made the '64 Riv did announce a '63 but there was just not enough interest (not enough pre-orders) so they may not be too receptive to trying a '65 at this time. It's expensive to even make a few changes in the molds, and with todays economy it makes many companies a bit scared to bite off more than they can chew if you know what I mean. That's why we're out here asking for pre-orders on these AWB cars - so we can pay for the project, put at least something in our pocket, then hopefully make more of them or Dodges too. Boy, that answer got longer than I originally thought it would be...
The 1:18 altered wheelbase cars have been approved for production! These should ship soon, and we expect to have the first 3 cars (Mule-Leal-Sox& Martin) here in our warehouse by the very end of August. Then Smith and Yother in September. You do get FREE shipping to the US48 - if reserved prior to their arrival. Over 2/3's of them are spoken for already, and many thanks to those of you who have pre-ordered them. It's appreciated. If you've attended the local Minnesota GTO club hosted MUSCLECAR CL***IC in the past, don't go to the normal show location this year. But DO GO TO the AutoMotorPlex in Channh***en, MN as that's where this years event is being held. See 100's of 60's and early 70's musclecars - and some mighty rare ones at that. Not uncommon to see a Boss 429 Mustang, Yenko Camaro, or Hemi anything and everything. Hurst Olds, lots of GTO's, Ram Air too, and just a great bunch of cars to look at in a super COOL setting. The AutoMotorPlex is an ***ortment of "garages" you purchase, and then finish off the way YOU want to. Some are just for storage, some are... well, you gotta see them... Checkerboard floors, big screen TV's, upper lofts, sound systems like no tomorrow, wine cellars, pool tables, even cars in them! You gotta gotta gotta go if at all possible. Here's the link to event/location info... http://www.musclecarcl***icshow.com/ Scott and I will be there with 1:18 AWB '65 Plymouth's on display, and will have 100's of other 1:18 cars available to purchase. If you are anywhere near here, be there Sunday!
