ME likey new(old) wheel. If you are a fan of those early americans, they are very close.

Another option is the MAGNESIUM repops for a whole lot more money.

    A very good compromise!!

WillysRule said it way better than I could.

This post pisses me off since I'm p***ionate about wheels. This is a damn close exact copy to the original magnesium American Racing wheels and you guys are *****ing about price. Please tell me your other options.

This is actually a new wheel that I would consider running after I etched it and tried to make it look like an original.

You can get these wheels super cheap on ebay...... but we're all laughing at you:

I've seen these wheels on a steel Willys! WTF??

I'm pretty p***ionate about vintage Magnesium racing wheels too and I've always been of the mindset that wheels ABSOLUTELY make or break the car. A primer'ed car with a real set of vintage Magnesium Halibrands or American Racing 5-Spokes is just plain *****in'.......while a car with a $12,000 paint job and Chrome Nuggets or cheap Progressive wheels just ****s. I also collect vintage Magnesium drag racing wheels and kinda enjoyed usually having the only set at a local cruise night but now I see that many others now will have the cheaper aluminum copy-cat versions.

I'm not telling all my secrets here..hahahaha..but since you asked... Sometimes I buy cars that have nice wheels on them already and change them out when I sell the car for a profit. That way I have the wheels. Sometimes you find an orphan wheel at a swap meet or at a garage sale, if you know what you are looking at and wait long enough..soon you have a pair. Amazing how cheap a single wheel can be. I'm not breaking new ground here. People do it all the time. I don't have a ton of money at any given time, so I have to make do and keep my eyes open. Sure, it takes time and luck, but it happens. I'm not cheap, I'm just broke...

Are these made in the USA or they imported like most cast wheels are these days?

Now that you brought it up ,anyone have any ideas how to darken aluminium wheels so they look alittle closer to magnesium?

  9. Got my new wheels this morning!! Notice the finish are for the Strange 5/8 rear wheel studs, larger then a normal mag washer and Scott was on it with the questions! I am very happy with the service and quality, thanks again Scott.

New wheels for "Wildthing!" Team III Cl***ic 5 wheels are front 15x5 and rear 15x12 with 3" BS Fronts weigh 14lbs each and the rears weigh 27lbs each, very light for a wheel of this style. I can't wait for the tires and mounting for the mockup to begin!

Hey Jim, quit laughing at my car!:D Seriously though, those things they sell as Halibrand copies are about as ugly as Mehelichs. Hecho by ****-o-la Industrial Co. in China, I suspect.

Scott is a great guy with a very good eye for detail and I for one would have no problem running those wheels on the Willys. You can get them powder coated to look like old magnesium, and just let them get a little dirty and voila....

I waited 7 months to get mine, but they are very nice. Very close to my original magnesium ones. The price was about $400, per wheel. I was tired of looking at tons of swap meet junk. But, I scored a set of genny in the box M/T chrome reverse wheels at Spring Carlisle for a staggering $35 a piece. So in my mind, that was a great offset of the cost of the ET's. I painted my centers satin black and used a taller cap I had laying around. I really dislike the stubby one that the ET"S come with...BKH

  14. Nice looking wheel, Scott... now, where were ya' when I had a '68 Dart?

Also, can a guy get wheels drilled on weird stuff if he wants, like 6 pin for a sprint car?

BTW, any ETA on that spindle-mount front wheel that has a provision on the back side for a brake rotor?

I was telling a buddy about that one ninety minutes ago.

Those wheels look nice. Whar size tires are you going to run on the front?
I walked all over Columbus looking for a car that had that style of wheel on the front, never found any.
