My favorite is the original Lobeck's maroon deuce hiboy. "Back in day" he told me me he was building one (I was building a 29 Hiboy at the time). I was blown away when I saw it for the first time. He had more detail on his starter that most of us had on our whole cars. It's not the same now. Don't have a picture though.

    Nick,

Here it is with a B-24 Liberator. Someday my real goal is to get photos of it along side a Spitfire!

I cant narrow it down to one, so I will split it up into sub-categories.
Closed, unchanneled, Dave Soderstrom's 3 window
Closed, channeled, Andy Kaza's 3 window circa '58, before Barris dressed it up like a Las Vegas *****
Open, unchanneled, Nitti's Roadster, eggplant purple and wide whites, how can you go wrong?
Open, Channeled, Tony La Masa's Roadster.

Modern is a little tougher, I REALLY liked Kurt Senescall's lavender 5-window, but that moon tank hanging off the front kinda ruined it for me. Cam Whites Desoto-powered roadster with the Mercury Monarch hubcaps, the first time I saw that car was leaving the 5-6-7 picnic in Aldergrove, stopped me dead in my tracks. What a stunning car. Several others have already mentioned Alex Idzardi's 5 window, I REALLY like that car. Al Engles roadster with the '32 chrysler grill shell, That maroon ardun-powered roadster from Sweden with the '50s era 18" indy car halibrands that was in TRJ a couple years ago was pretty cool too.

I guess if I was backed into a corner, and had to pick just one, it would be Soderstroms 3-window, but I might say Kaza's car if you asked me a week from now. Modern, would have to be Cam Whites roadster.

Past closed car: Doyle Gammell's coupe
Past open car: Gary Kessler's roadster (now owned by Don Ward)

Present closed: Tom Bandoni's coupe just featured in TRJ #50.
Present open: The roadster (The Texas *******) that Brian B*** completed and showed at the GNRS.
