The problem is, when you encourage someone about an O/T car, then you're just going to get more O/T car posts and pretty soon everybody cool leaves.

You guys mind taking your mini truck chat somewhere else? Somewhere it belongs, maybe?

edit: it appears "star wire wheels" is just a style of wheel?

even though i think they only belong on british tr6, redlines might look good on it.

  9. Cool car! My buddy had one back in the 80's, these cars were the best looking cars to ever run the OEM 5 spoke buick wheels.

Oh, and you don't have to go out and find a sretch of road to find out the top end, I found it's right about 130 according to the barrel speedometer :D

i like the wires but i would definitely putting some wide white walls on them. those cars are bagged and or have hydraulics. i live in NYC my car would get ****d, no lube, by the pot holes. also that pink riviera had 20's in the back and 18's in the front at some point.

magsnuby- where can i get those wheels from?

gangster whites ain't nothin' but pimptastic on anything newer than a 1960. have you checked tire prices? that may make you re-consider as well. a set of 15x7 cragar ss and some bargain 1" (or less) whitewalls are cl***ic, and will still be hip, 5-10-20 years from now.

you don't need hydraulics to get low, i've had plenty of big, low cars without adjustable suspension, they ride just fine.

fyi, potholes will **** up big rims even easier than a 14" or 15". it's just leverage, archimedes was onto something...

Uhmmm... no. Wide whites look awful, ****ing awful. And the big wheels are just plain stupid. So not only is the car OT, which some are willing to overlook since it's still a pretty cool car. But then you want to ruin the damn thing. At this point you need to figure out where you are. This is the HAMB, not donks.com, or pimp-my-ride.com, and we don't want to see cars that look like Huggy Bear's last ride. Tasteful, cl***y is what that thing should be. Star Wires or Supremes, Pinner whites.

so you're saying that the silver riviera i posted with white walls looks horrible? by the way i HATE donks. it's like a atv with a car body. HOWEVER i do like bigger wheels when DONE RIGHT which can be achieved. c'mon guys if every car was exactly like your car, you wouldn't like your car as much. this world is about diversity. someone said that anything past a 60 with wide whites is trash. well time changes in a few years anything past a 70 with wide whites might be trash and so forth. i come from the import world to begin with. i was NEVER and thought i would never be into old cars like i am. i had a 471whp miata for goodness sakes. i bought my firs old car (1970 lesabre 4 door hdtp) rust bucket for 600 bucks and i loved it. i did 90 to my grandmothers in it and it felt like i was doing 10mph on an air mattress. next was a 64 electra 225 4door hrdtp which got destroyed by a drunk driver. then i bough another miata because they were cheap and fun lol. i guess my point is give something/someone a chance before you automatically say you hate something. i guarantee many of you people (off the internet) like or liked a certain car with bigger wheels/wide whites. like i said earlier big wheels on muscle cars = no i'd rather have nice light weight race wheels with racing tires that have white lettering on the side. a big body luxury car that is a land yacht needs bigger wheels IMO. it simply fills out the car better and makes it more uniform. those lowrider rivs look ok when they are parked because they're dropped as low as they can go but it wont look like that while driving, comfortable at least. it will look jacked up in the air and the tires will look like 4 donuts. i've seen it over and over. even when designers design cars/trucks the bigger the car the bigger the wheel tire package they go with. -end rant :) sorry about posting in the wrong forum as well.

take 2 coils from the front, get some a-body (chevelle/tempest/cutl***) rear springs that match your pigtail, and a set of standard offset 15x7 with some 225/70/15s. nice ride, low enough and easy replacements if you ever need 'em...

20's and bigger are for a whole different group of people..not typically found here. I think you will discover in a hurry, that we think/know they look stupid..and despise them on the street, at a show, tire shop, or anywhere, let alone on this traditional site. zman got it right.

Yes I'm saying it looks horrible. The wheels do not go with the car. As for the donut remark, I'd rather have donuts than rubber bands. But really it's obvious that you don't get what the HAMB is about. You are desperately trying to get us to understand your point of view when it really isn't what this place is about. Your car is off topic, the style you keep talking about is off topic. It's about Traditional Hot Rods and Customs, which means like something you might see in the early 60's if not earlier.

then maybe you should consider an outro

  25. Don't sweat the "it's too new for the HAMB" deal....I didn't have one old enough when I found this place, but I did come to visit and learn. When I got my '53, I started to chime in. At 26, you're young enough to have a '66 now and something older later....and something newer later....

It's your car so put what wheels you like on it. I don't go for low-profile tires because of the utterly cavernous potholes we get up here....I've bent a rim running 50-series tires. Just something to keep in mind. Thin sidewalls can look good, but nothing ****s more than a bent rim 50 miles into the middle of nowhere.

lmmfao! i think you guys need to back away from the internet for a while and go outside and get some sunshine! it's really NOT that serious! lets hug and be friends!

back on topic i'm starting to love this body style the more i look at it (i was originally looking for a 60 buck 2dr bubble). it reminds me of an italian gt car with it's short back, low profile, and long hood. i'm very happy with my purchase! i would like to thank the members on this board once more who so graciously obliged to help me out!
