Lets go back about 60 years in time for a minute. I am not into the fast and furious seen and there are alot of posers in their crowd but fast is fast and some of them would smoke most hot rods hands down, granted not my scene.Seems they are kinda alot like us hot rodders in the fact that their elders dont understand them, dont want understand them and they all seem like roughnecks or hoodlums or no goods.Ring any bell to you real old timers.Hell I am 40 and I just cant go out and buy a the duece of my dreams these kids are fixin up what they can afford and what is readily available. The srt neon is their HEMI cuda of the 21st century.Instead of blastin these punks why dont you go over and show them your rod and what your take is on the scene and dont do all the talkin take a listen to what their sayin too. I think if you take a good look we all are not that different.Just remember 10 seconds in the 1/4 mile is 10 seconds and it dont matter if your in a conastoga wagon.
    Sorry about the rant.

    TT...Not a rant...some good points.

I have on occasion stopped at the local parking lot where the kids hang out...If I show interest in what they are doing, some of em will usually warm up to the roadster and ask legitimate questions....We gotta keep an open mind...some people just don't want a deuce...even if they could afford one.

Here's another thing look at Kirk's new add for Billetproof and look at the add on the link from this post. "Oboy we might miss Jimmy Shine and Gas Monkey." I didn't want to see their 30 foot trailers anyways

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't even know what this means. Is it a slam on me? What link is he talking about? I'm lost.

The 30 foot trailer thing is kinda funny though. It WAS seen as very odd in SF that the g*** Monkey guy pulls his $100,000 trailer into a room full of $5,000 cars. He just don't get it.

  5. Denise...what's the year/model cut off date? I know some guys in grey in Detroit with cool cars, but they're not all "ideal" specimens for a lot of car shows. I also know a guy in Detroit with one of the coolest, homebuilt choppers I've ever seen...can bikes get in? Can these thugs park together? Rudy...wanna help this grey-thing rolling? [IMG]

For those who care I did my intro 4/14/04. Before that on the old hamb I was a member and did an intro under the name mug. So maybe that was before some of you thought traditional hot rods were the next cool thing. I do say "some" because I know a lot of you have been around for a long time. I don't have a lot of posts because I dont have a lot of time. I own a shop in Sacramento. I build cars that most of you who get it would love. All traditional hot rods and customs. I also have a small clothing company that I started about six years ago. Because I was sick of all the twelve color muscle car t-shirts that were out there. And once again geared to all traditional hot rod stuff.

The reason why I got into the traditional cars is because not everybody else was. Some of the coolest shows I have been to have less than 60 cars. But it's all hot rods. You know I think any cars that run tens deserves props. I had a Camero at one time ran 10.20's but you don't hear me talking about that on this board. I think those Honda guys have there own message board. All I am saying is there needs to some seperation from all this goofy main stream ****.

Didn't mean to start all this drama. The question was asked why nobody was signing up and I just put my 2cents in. Your talking about how sereperate its going to be then seperate it all together. Dont bill it under one. Have its own venue. What else can I say... I'm a purest when it comes to hot rods.

Kirk- Hey what I was trying to say is that "you" have it right. Basically I was comparing your ad for the Detroit Billitproof to their website for the show. Because their big selling points were the Gas Monkey Garage and Jimmy Shine. Thanks, Scott

I think that explains it a little better on your part blue collar.Thats why these boards exsit. The problem is that it in fact is a mainstream show and I think they are just tryin to enlight the world to our take on what hotrods are.As for the youth movement remember as they always say they are our future and you as a buisness man should realize this.Say when said rice rocket driver turns 30 and decicdes it aint his scene anymore and walks in your shop and says man I want to get back to the roots of this whole thing can you build me a car and while your at it sell me one of those cool traditional shirts your makin too.Cause if you dont explain to them and let them see what the tradition is whos gonna carry it on when were to old.I am sure like all of us some where in your life a old timer has talked to you and thats maybe what drew you in to the "traditional hotrods".Thats all I am sayin look around that ricer with the nozzzz powered vtec might be your next best customer.Just something to think about.Like someone on the hamb boards tag line says "drivin into the future with tradition"

I know you might think I am new to this, so I will try to post a pic of my dad from 1947 at El Mirage so you can see I have been around racing or Hot Rodding all of my 43 years

We do not have an "Official Cut-Off" date, but the entries must be of the Traditional style. We don't want any 1980 Cutl*** Supremes in suede with wide whitewalls and lake pipes! [IMG]

Hey, don't you realize the kind of Hot Chicks that Fast and the Bi-Curious cars bring. Everyone has there on wants, tastes and desires. Do you live in a world so damn secluded that all you see is HOT RODS.. that must be so damn fun.. Just my two cents...

And the project BSM staff cars gets its first cut tonight.. Start the clock....

Ahh, but Drama is indeed good. This board would be mighty boring without at least a bit of drama!

As for "Nobody signing up", this was a misunderstanding based on information provided by someone who obviously doesn't have a clue.

As for Gas Monkey and Jimmy Shine, they are not the Main Attractions, just some of the many features that will be happening in this section. Remember...to make this a long term deal, it must appeal to a lot of people. Jimmy Shine and Gas Monkey are recognized by some people who have no clue what this is all really about. They are indeed a part of this and believe me, there are many other vendors selling anything from Die Cast 1/18th scale cars to Polish who I personally flat out turned away who would be more than happy to write us a check for space.

It is up to US to show them what it is about. The CARS (and bikes etc.) are indeed the stars of the show, always have been, always will be!

    Just my little rant...

As always, your thoughts, suggestions and comments are welcome. I am bound and determined to make this whole deal the "Talk of the Show" [IMG]

What a GAY *** IDEA - "Lets put the Fast and the Furous guys with the Traditional Hot Rod guys." These people don't get it. Just because these are the only areas with any growth in the aftermarket industry. You think we want to hang out together at the same show. I dont want anything to do a bunch of Hondas with big exhaust tips, neon, tribal flames and a big wing.

Here's another thing look at Kirk's new add for Billetproof and look at the add on the link from this post. "Oboy we might miss Jimmy Shine and Gas Monkey." I didn't want to see their 30 foot trailers anyways.

Hey Chris, I think we all realized the dead line is the 30th we just didn't care. Do a show with just hot rods and people will come.

[/ QUOTE ]It's called the "Autorama" not the Hot Rodorama or the Riceorama or the Truckorama . It's a show for all autos not just hot rods. This is a big show and a lot of people will be comming like always, more this year because of the traditional stuff. I plan on checking everything out not just the trad stuff.

[/ QUOTE ] That about says it for you. You got into traditional cars because no one else was, good for you. I got into them because I thought they were cool, because I liked them more then anything else, because the hot rod and custom people are a great bunch. Not you though, you did it just to be different.WOW!! Screw it I think I am going to sell my "60" Olds and get a dump truck.I want to be different and nobody else is into dump trucks.

Heya Bob - We all know this show is an incredible feat to pull off. My hats off to ya for all your hard work. I just think it's cool as hell that A) you're even on this board, and B) you're asking for peoples' opinions & ideas for the show!! Most coordinators of an event this significant wouldn't even bother! So, although there will always be negative opinions, I think it'll be an outstanding show regardless of where or who the traditional rods park next to.

This is sooooo funny to me ......... because NONE of you "get IT". When you do a big show it cost MONEY!.... space to all your "COOL" cars isnt free and the moneyyou pay to enter barely covers the cost of the Venue If it wasnt for the "BigTrailer Sponsers" It would cost you and the public more money. You guys dont ***** about the Big beer co. signs, Oil co., AutoParts stores. and whoever else is sponsering the show!.... I dont hear anybody *****ing that Viva has "sold out" to big sponsers. Even Kirk wants to make a profit with Billet**** .... and he works for GOODGUYS too!...."but hes on the HAMB"... so thats ok- right .... everybody on here is a hypocrite, you all burn the outsiders for "buying and selling" and or doing things big..... and worship the HAMBers that do the samething.!you all "WANNA BE" sooo cool ..... you all know you have something with a WestCoast choppers logo on it! and you all watch Rides and that Boyd show too.

NONE of you get it! .... its about appealing to m***es and selling the show! The only way a show or hobby has longevity is if its profitable.

    Whatever

Hey ****er, my business is none of yours. I know first hand what it takes to put together a show, I've been doing Billetproof for 8 years. Long before most of the HAMB even had a hot rod. Couple that with 20 years of hot rod experience and that gives me the clout to express my opinion. Everyone who knows me knows what I put into Billetproof and what little I get out of it. It's a love first, barely a business second. You don't see Budweiser or *** Money presents attached to the name do you?

As for Goodguys... because I get a paycheck from someone has nothing to do with my choice of the vehicles I build nor the friends I keep so keep your nose the F*** out of my affairs. They are nowhere near perfect but I get to be around hot rods and meet HAMBers all over the US for a living. No one is bagging on you because of who you work for. They're bagging on who you work for. Just like they do the Goodguys. Big f***ing deal. Quit whining.

I have first hand opinions about what ever the f*** Gas Money guy's name is, based on events in Colorado, Texas and SF. I'm not laying it all out here because I don't feel the need. They are just that, OPINIONS. And they're about him, not you.

I didn't come into the scene at the last minute and try to buy myself into it. I helped MAKE THE SCENE, along with a bunch of others on the HAMB and beyond, so don't even talk about me and him in the same breath.

Traditional rods and customs are a HOBBY not a lifestyle, so nobody on here is a hypocrite.

I know you just have your feathers ruffled protecting your paycheck but you should look around. I'm a big enough man to tell it like it is. I think you guys are WAY too talented to be hanging around that guy. I really hope I'm wrong about him and his slick-palm sleaziness, for your sake. And if I am I'll be the first one to admit it.

Oh, one more thing, I've never owned anything with WCC or OCC. Sorry.

BTW My cussing does not mean that I dislike you, I don't even know you. I'm just pissed off. Heck, when I meet you at the show I'll give you a big hug. I'm serious, I'll do it.
