SO today Taildraggin decided we were going to make my front cross member...... Can't do work on my ch***is as Taildraggin is helping his mate to fabricate a ch***is on MY ch***is table!!!!!!! My front cross member is based on a Model A but is dropped by 1 inch. So first, going by Taildraggins autocad drawing, we cut out all of the components out of 2" box section, 4" x 2" box section and some 3mm plate. Here's a pic of Taildraggin plasma cutting the parts.
Once all the parts were cut out, we ground chamfers on the edges to be welded making sure all the angles were correct and that it would fit together. Here's a pic of all the components cut out (looks like a jigsaw puzzle )
We then tacked all the pieces together and i welded it all together, then ground down the weld to look like one piece. What do you think???? Not bad eh Daisyduke
That IFS ain't mine it's just using MY ch***is table. Told taildraggin i want it gone this week so i can crack on with mine. It's a triumph IFS and the ch***is is for a morris traveller. Daisyduke
nice job on the crossmember, daisy. i didn't know what your were making a crossmember for so i went looking at your recent posts. looks like you're getting a good start on your rpu. keep taking pix and showing us.
Daisy i think the refrance to 'The fast show' will be lost on the American contingent, nice job however........Marq
That Triumph IFS is basically the same as a Lotus Esprit Many of the coilovers were robbed in the 70's and 80's over here for rear suspensions
