Just finished the p***enger door panel for my 49 chevy pickup. Hand tooled veg tanned leather, 22 hours of tooling...and I have to do it all again for the drivers door!
Nice! Glue some silver coins on it now! http://theselvedgeyard.wordpress.com/2009/12/22/nudie-cohn-rhinestone-cowboy/ Hope to see it at Greaserama. David
Very nice leather work, the detail in the floral design is excellent. Have to find a source for old vintage hardware, maybe used or antique br*** washers and fasteners, they also have those br*** upholstery pins, those are hard to find but they would fit your style.
Very nice!! Are you going to duplicate the same design on the other door or make something differeent. I know you didn't ask but I'll vote for a completelydiffernt scene on the other door. Might as well give your talent maximum exposure. Did I mention very nice? Frank
Reminds me of the purse my Grandma used to carry. It was made in the hand made in the Oklahoma state pen. She got it when she was visiting my uncle Joe there back in the 70's.
Very cool idea. Back in the late 50's, when I was in junior high school, everyone (the guys) took shop cl***es, electrical, wood, machine & (believe it or not), leather tooling. I really liked it & made some cool stuff, with some fancy tooling & s***ching. So, you must have a collection of tools for the various designs. How long have you been doing it? It looks pretty damned good.
Damn , that is some very fine leather work ! That's a very nice touch for your ride ! Nice out of the box idea for the door panels ! Retro Jim
I started doing leatherwork when I was around 10 years old, and did alot of it till I was around 17...that all stopped when I went to college, and I hadnt done any for years. I am 30 now, and I started back up with the leatherwork about a year ago. Its amazing how fast it all comes back! like riding a bike!
that is some good stuff right there, revolver on the driver side and a shotgun on the p***enger......but don't start all over now.
