... sounds easy enough right? wrong!!!i bought a clean 49 pontiac from a friend who was going to strip it to put the nicer parts onto his 49 pontiac woody. my pontiac has straight wheel openings with fenderskirts. part of the deal was that i have to get him new wheel openings for his woody and he keeps the fender skirts to put on his woody. i contacted noram body parts cause they have wheel openings listed. come to find out that all aftermarket wheel openings have a lip sticking out and none are flat. (flat wheel openings are designed for fender skirts) if i don't find wheel openings set up for factory fender skirts i will have to cut the openings out of mine to give him. anybody got any ideas?
Doesn't someone make a Chevy set that will work, especially for a wagon body? The ones I remember looking at pix of look like they'd take a skirt okay.
not sure but if you look at the description on norams website the description for the wheel openings say that they will fit chevy pontiac and olds, but they told me that factory skirts will not fit the openings because they flare out at the edge, where mine are flat. they said no one makes flat wheel openings for factory fender skirts
your story is confusing 1> do you want fender skirts? 2: what type of skirts do you want? 3 is the woody using skirts? 4: willing to use chevy skirts
haha sorry. i bought a parts car from a friend that i didn't want him to rip apart(49 pontiac 4dr). he was going to cut out the wheel openings out of mine to weld into his. he kept the skirts from my car and part of the deal is to find him wheel openings that accept the stock fender skirts or i am gonna have cut out my openings and make something work on mine.
I have a 52 Pontiac and Chevy skirts wouldn't fit! I don't think any skirts will work without some mods because of this lip...and my wheel openings are factory Pontiac (not aftermarket) and they still have that damn lip! What to do?
skirts and wheel openings are a bit confusing for us. although i do belive we will have a solution for you or your friend to keep from cutting up your car: does your friend have to have the pontiac skirts? on chevys wheel openings and skirts go like this 49-50 style #1 has seperate l/r version 51-52 style #2 skirt will fit either side there is a very small difference in 49/50 and 51/52 skirts only make this a issue i belive ponitacs were always delivered with skirts but could be wrong can your friend use our 49/50 chevy skirts??? or you ???
do you make 49/50 chevy wheel openings and the skirts? i could get this from you for him, then i could just get my factory pontiac skirts from him and put them on my car.
lets decide on what you want or need to do, then i can propose a solution. i do not make skirts of any type
