    Hi,
I've got a '39 Ford with an old set of front tube shock conversion brackets/shocks. The old shocks are junk and I need to find replacements. The shocks mount with 5/8 loops at either, are 8.5" eye center to eye center compressed, and 13" center to center extended. The only markings on the shocks are "NO.220" The shocks are gas filled, so I don't think they're that old.
    Thanks for any help!

  2. Any good parts man (i.e., one with some gray hair who knows how to use paper books like our ancestors did) can probably cross reference that number and come up with a match for you. He will also know how to look them up by specs (fully compressed length, fully extended length, and type of ends). FWIW, I keep a little shirt-pocket size notebook in the glove box of Henrietta the '38 Ford pickup where I record stuff like part numbers for shocks and what applications they list for, what make/model of vehicle I pulled various parts off of at the junkyard, oil/air filter numbers, spark plug numbers, etc. Do that, and next time you'll be able to go into the parts store and just tell them you need a pair of Monroe #**** shocks.

Go to Monroe's web site. They list the dimensions and part numbers.
