Projects My 34 is finally starting to look like a.........well, a 34 five window Ford coupe.

Took some pics of the 34 today and it is finally coming together. I bought the car a couple of years ago from a welder I met on a job site. We were talking about hot rods and he said he had an old Ford. His Dad bought it for a father/son project when he was 13, he is now 49. They put a sbc in it with a pg and he drove it through high school. Started tearing it apart in the early 80's and put a Pinto front end under it, it had the original, and a 12 bolt posi, and the rear end that was taken out was also the original. He has put a new firewall in it:( When I got it the body was setting on the frame with the rearend and front end.
It now has an early 50's Olds rearend with the Olds trailing arms, an old chrome dropped front axel with chrome backing plates and chrome drums with split wishbones, that came out of a 34 hot rod. The guy wanted a Mustang II front end so I got this front end on the cheap. I picked up a 331 hemi with 2x4's and a C4 that came out of a T-bucket that got rearended and totaled. Keeping the same SW gauges and dash that Welder Bob used when he had it. Picked up a third seat out of a mini van. It's got the original glass and the back window still rolls down and the front still swings out. Pretty much an unmolested body, no chop with door handles and it's all steel. Yea, I'm pretty happy with it.

Damn that looks real cool! Love the engine and rear end choice. Can't help but to get excited since the exterior reminds me of my '35!1 Keep it up!

I took down the original bumpers that Welder Bob had re-chromed. They are still wrapped in early 80's newspapers from the chrome shop. He had the grill re-chromed when he was in high school. He saved the money from a job he had washing dishes at a restaurant. Couldn't imagine a dish washing job now days that paid enough to pay for a re-chrome job on a 34 grill.

Wow, neat car. Glad you were able to "save" it. That old chrome frontend was a great score. Keep us posted with the progress.

Thanks everyone for the positive comments. Really looking forward to the first fire up and the first drive and getting the bugs worked out of it.
