Been looking around for some info on them. I've seen some here and there but not alot. Would like to do something with one someday possibly soon. Maybe with an 8v53 Detroit Diesel? Can aybody point me in the right direction or anybody who tinkers with these?
This is another good forum for that. I have my opinions on that motor selection, but I'll keep them to myself. Good luck with the project! http://www.hankstruckpictures.com/forum01/ Miller's Truck Salvage in Portland, OR has a lot of good parts for what you are working on. RF
The old guys used to say, "the only substitute for cubic inches is MORE cubic inches". Try an 8 V 92 with an eight speed Road Ranger on one stick.
Try using the HAMB 'search' feature. There's been several "big truck" - both "build" and 'also "general info" - threads posted. Mart3406 =======================================================
Thanks guys! What would recommend motor wise? I love the sound of those screaming old detroits! Was even thinking of doing something like this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FZN_9Le7oQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EvzEqmNpo3E&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ni8_e74yfVU&feature=related Or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZWgrTde348
I'm a cummins guy, my 58 kenworth has a 220 cummins and a 5x4, its a great combination. Detroits are asome, untill you find a hill.
