  1. Frame looks good. Nice progress. Just looking at the rear spring hangers, you may need to run a lowering block to get the car down enuff in the back. Hard to get these cars low with the spring mounted under the frame. On my 47 I am moving the springs inboard of the frame rails. It is as low now without lowering blocks as it was with 3 inch ones and I can still add blocks if I want it lower. Pat.

does anyone have a illustrated fuel pump guide, i'm wondering if there is a sbc pump with the feed pointing back instead of forward. it needs to be the same size as the one from a '69 camaro (in california '74 and up had a vapor line at the bottom and it was longer).

Blank it off and use an electric fuel pump.

Use one of the race pumps and you can have it come out any direction you want. They allow the bottom to be unbolted from the top and rotated. Edelbrock, Holley, etc. Select fuel pumps on the left and look at the top one. There's a lower kit for tight engine compartments farther down the page.

Oldtimer...you're making it look waaay too easy. Having built the ch***is on my '36 I know all too well that it is a long process that, at times, is so frustrating you want to rip your own balls off. All that grinding leaves you with snot that is black for a year and a half.

Dan, you´re doing a great job!
Sorry, but I have one dumb ( very dumb) question: Where can I get an angle gauge , like the one you used to set your pinion angle? I´ve been asking for one at several tool stores around here, no one seems to have them.

  19. funny thing is around here they ARE different.................most have billit and only drive on sunny weekend days. plus I'M CHEAP, i had 3 paint colors to choose from, 1 was off white/cream which was good for blackwalls, 2 was dark blue metallic.....to dark, 3 was red...i'm still planning to redo the 2 original stripes on each wheel plus some caps.

    Where'd yah take it? OC?

  22. yup oc, it's raining too much to pick up the damn thing. the got the body (only) done early on thursday but when my friend went to get it it started to rain. so the rest of the parts will be done on tuesday, hope theres a clear spot around then. on a good note he said it's one of the cleanest bodies he's seen in a awhile. bought a 3 part spray/brush in bedliner kit for the underside of everything (fenders, body, running boards) and some dp40 for the rest. if you ever need paint supplies on the weekends (or late) there's a carquest in santa ana on broadway and 1st (by main/first) it's also by santa ana speed. they have a small paint shop inside, they're open till 7pm m-sat, 4 on sunday and sell ppg (cheaper then down here at the paint store). it's kinda small and i don't think they can color match.

    did you get yours back?

  23. dollie i had to make for blast shop. i just got the body back today, more pictures to come........................

  24. body back from the blasters:

  27. and thinking of what gauges to run, here's what i have. the s/w speedo is only 3 1/4, the willys is 5", the moon is 4 5/8" and the stock hole is 4 3/8". with the willys it's a single gauge and all others it's 3 gauges.
