Do any of you guys know of any good car shows or meets in bc Canada? By good I meen no imports or muscle cars, just traditional hotrods and kustoms. I'm getting tired of the ****ty show and shines where people put those god awful "stuffed crying kids" againtst there cars and discuss how much they payed to have their cars built. There's been a couple good meets in the past but they are few and far between. Any info would be great. Thanks! Jeff
Hey Jeff check out the Grease & Grind at Pats Pub in Van I think its the last Saturday of the month. I've been a few times last year and it was always a good time.
I'll deffinitly keep it in mind for next year. It was on the saturday that just p***ed (may29th). Thanks for the info tho. Let me know if you hear of anymore, and I'll do the same. Jeff
The show at "Ocean Park Ford" in Sept, is "The Best Quality Show", for the entire year, in the lower mainland. Although, Ive not made it to "Duece Days in Victoria, which looks pretty good too.
I go to the ocean park ford show every year and yes it's a good one. Went to duece days the last time it was on about two years ago, was quite the show as well. But I'm lookin for more traditional rod and kustoms shows.
I agree 100%. there's only a select few here. Most of the guys I know that build rods and customs the traditional way are always going to the states to tons of different shows. All of which have been amazing and worth while to make the trip I've heard. Even the "rod runs" aren't around anymore. I remember as a kid goin almost every weekend to a rodrun and setting up camp and spending the weekend around hundreds of cars and trucks.
This is kinda far from north van, but on a nice friday alot of the hot rods and cl***ics show up at tim hortons in langley or white rock beach in south surrey.
We do somewhat of the same thing here. Either we are at the canadian tire, or just recently we've been going to Lost In The 50s diner in burnaby.
Yup, we are way short of good car shows here in BC. Every show around the north here is full of rice,4 wheelers and muscle cars and don't get me started on those crying babies or the A&W trays hangin off the car windows! I would love to see someone organize a Canadian version of Billetproof, Primer Nationals or the Turkey run.
Is that the diner on edmonds and canada way? That's in my hood, I'll have to come over in my sleeze-van and check out your cars!
Its not strictly traditional like you asked but the Sleepy Hollow Rod Run in Sechelt every August is an absolute blast. 400 + vehicles cruising on a summer night, the community REALLY gets behind this. Its the longest street party you've ever seen. Neighbours try to outdo each other, setting up couches, beer fridges, you name it on their front lawns, some hold up signs to rate your vehicle, everybody tries to get you to do burnouts. Strictly prohibited, of course... http://www.coasterscarclub.ca/sleepy-hollow/
Ugh.. I live a couple blocks from "lost in the 50's" I ate there once, the food was godawful. If you guys want to get together for breakfast on weekend morning, "The big 6" is just down the road and does a greasy trucker breakfast for under $5.00 that's pretty good. The problem I have with the local shows is that it's the same damn cars at every show. How often do we have to see a purple '75 Ventura anyways? I swear I've been looking at that thing for the last 15 years. The New Westminster show isn't bad provided you like muscle cars, lowriders and everything else was well. Be prepared for ugly PT-cruisers with fake bugcatchers. Shawn
My favorite local show is Ocean Park Ford. I'm planning on going to Victoria for Deuce Day, but we do need a more traditional or at least just a good hot rod only show in the area. Maybe someone should organize something for next summer?
Its been on a few friday nights so far. hasnt been a constant deal YET. Its cool cause its almost run down. But the lady who runs the place stays late to cook everyone with cars some burgers. It would be nice if we could give her more buisness cause that place is one of the last old diners around.
Ive been going to that show since i was young. A buddy of mine and my dad lets us camp out in his HUGE back yard. He also has a m***ive shop to fix our cars after we blow them up at the 1/8th mile track. Not a traditional show but lots of traditional stuff shows up.
Us BC'ers NEED to set something up. I just got back from a show in edgemont village here in North vancouver. It was ok, except for the jags (im talkin like 2003-7 jags) and all the other daily driver ****. Was cool tho, some of the cars laurie peterson built were there. But im getting tired of these. We need to be able to drink some "pops" listen to good music and have some fun, not just sit around and wait for the awards.
Lauries cars are great. If someone want to start a regular get-together, I'm in. Lost in the 50's on Fridays you say? I'm only a few blocks away, I'll try to get there this coming Friday. Shawn
Next Saterday is BOB AND DANS PUB RUN located at the marine pub in burnaby. We cater to traditional hotrods and customs but anything cool is welcome. Here is the flyer and my ride.
Bob and Dan put on a good show. They attract a lot of the cool cars on the lower mainland, and good grub too.
I go to it every year past couple of years have been better now that i turned old enough to go in the pub hahaha.
I caught the New West show before I left for Kamloops, there is some weird **** in there for sure. Too bad I missed the marine pub one, I'll stop by the diner on friday. Look for the 60's econoline beater that looks like a bumble bee!
