Was at the salvage yard today looking at wrecked MG's and Fiats. May be able to go roadster and graft in a different windshield. Afraid all the Restorer's are going to whine about how rough it is, even though I'll sell it cheap. When it's modified they'll really whine, even though they had their chance. Thanks for the scan I'll have to do some research on that one.

I don't think you will be able to sell this to a restorer, they are rare, but not that rare. I've seen quite a few come by over the years.
As it's already ''modified'' and pretty bashed up, I'd go all-out racer. Full cage, independent front and rear suspension and a wicked fast & lightweight fourbanger.

    Bike-engine anyone?

well I think if it were mine, i'd brace it up and cut the top off first, then ditch any and all factory suspension pieces, build a frame with ifs, maybe irs too, figure out how to wedge an injected Olds big block in it (455 knocked out to 468 w/ 425 crank, aluminium heads, etc etc).. an automatic would be the easiest option, but a manual would be more fun, (maybe a t5).. i'd probably just go with a set of plain jain steel wheels with some nice road racey type tires. a bare bones interior, (basically a seat, or 2, a cage, shifter and gauges)...

or the facny suspension could get swapped for the olds rear I have layin' in the shop, the 394 Rocket, a 4spd, maybe some type of forced induction, still no roof, nose high, wicked engine set back... etc etc.. kind of altered-ish..

Yeah, as I thought, the Restorer's are whining about how rough it is. I don't have the time to build it. Too many projects ahead of it. Too good to see it get crushed. Will have ***le soon, and will post it on the HAMB. Hopefully, someone needs a project cheap.

Go with the flow build a scary lil racer out of it, or a 60's sports custom.
Drivetrains up to you but i'd be inclined to build a g***er so i'd....
Straight axle it and hang the rear street slicks 2-3"s out of radiused rear arches, i'd run mismatched vintage x2 mags front and rear, redo the grill either cobra or GT40 style.
Use Jag XK Etype headlights with perspex covers, nerf bars and a 56 thunderbird hood scoop. (i'm into customs)
Inside would be in black with fibregl*** race buckets, harnesses and a half cage or loops in chrome and loop pile carpet or bare floors.
Dash would use extra guages (minimal) with a column mounted moon tach, go-pedal and a bell wheel with a stubby shifter. Get in, sit down, hang on, decal on glovebox.
Outside in a solid colour with a offset stripe over the top, numbers on the doors with slightly baffled 60's vette style side pipes.
    I'd keep that hardtop.

    Sports custom

Another thought is put an extra foot in behind the doors, and build a kustom out of it with rolled pans and those groovy tailights , of course the roof would need extending but anyone can do that with a turret off a small fourdoor sedan maybe rover or triumph or whatever.
The screen would be simple, measure the width & height and go looking at european oldies in junkyards as a custom you could put slanted a-pillars in and adapt a screen, its simple as.
The grill could be narrowed or made more oval or deep dish and a simple cut down mesh grill added for a touch of ferrari.
Interior would be basic black with a sports wheel, column tach and "foot" gas pedal.
It's almost corvairish, but with that extra foot added into the body it could look sectioned.
Paint could be a basecoat with pearl and basic 60's sportscar striping.
Mill wise a modern hot 4,V6 or ford V860 up front would do, wheels could be 5spoke astro's on pinner whites or simple white widened stockers with a slight blackwalled rubber rake. (White lettering optional).

Great ideas. I agree to save it it will probably have to be customized. I just don't want to do it. Car will be posted as soon as I get back from KKOA in Salinas.

The car is posted for sale. Some one needs to take all of these great ideas, and do something with it. I'm trying to focus on getting my 48 Ford panel drivable. Thanks for your responses. This was a fun poll.

Yes it is still for sale. I sent you a PM , but just noticed you wanted Cadillac heads. Might know where there are some.

  17. Still thinking on the Simca. The heads would be great, let me know what you find. Thanks, Trent

There can't be too many Minx converts over in the U.S. either. Amazing how cars get shipped around.

Dont paint it and leave the pipes alone that thing looks mean!

  20. I saw this in the want ads; have absolutely NO money and can't afford it.

So, of course, I wanted it badly.

Followed the link to this thread.

    And saw this pic:

Now, just a way to put a deal all together.

Sometimes I think just a nice, benign heroin habit would be easier...

Drag coupe or g***er would be boss, but I really like the idea of a road course car with a screaming low m*** mill and a bunch of gummy rubber to pound through the corners.

I only wish I could afford to do something with it. I felt I had to save it from further destruction. Now I feel like I brought home the loaf of bread with mold in the middle. Would make someone a very good deal on this car. I have to start liquidating to pay for future medical bills, and hopefully get my 48 Ford Panel going.

  24. I actually have TWO ideas for the car.

    1. Carla likes it so I would restore the car with an engine that has some ***** and a 5 speed! Cobra alternate if you will.

    2. Fuel altered as I stated above.

  27. Ummm. by definition this thing would never fit in a vintage g***er cl***. Sporty and Euro cars had their own cl***es, modified sports production and altered mainly.

This is the new me, I would have called you lemmings and dumb***es in the past.

Plus, this car is rare enough to not be chopped up but put back on the street with a little hotrod heartbeat under the hood.

Thecarfarmer, Seattle is not that far. Any interesting parts for trade? Some body needs to get this poor car out on the street in one form or another. It spent way too much time in the salvage yard. It needs to return with a vengence.
