I have been striping for about 4 years and want to try characters and lettering. Any brush suggestions out there and sizes?

I like these brushes: LUCO's for lettering, Mack 179 for lettering, Langnickel 13500 for lettering. For outlining letters the French Masters and the Quinn-Mack. I've also been using the Kafka Scrolling brush for outlining. Works a lot like a pinstriper, in fact I use it to do smaller striping pieces.

The main difference between striping and lettering is in the pressure you apply to the brush. Pinstriping is on the tip, while lettering is a lot more pressure to get the brush to fan out.

    Good Luck!

Brush size generally is determined by the stroke of the letter you are crating. Larger letters uses a wider brush size.
The different bristles types are irrelevant in the learning stages.
Practice loading the brush by paletting to get the sharpest edge you can and still have the paint flow.
Sharp edge on the brush as you look at it sideways. If it is fat, you haven't paletted correctly.
