Hello to everyone. I have a 59 Chevy apache I bought some time ago with the vague idea of getting it into roadable shape and helping my son decide whether or not he likes working on cars. Since the only mechanics I've every done is "desperation" repair back when I was in the service, and didn't have any money, I don't know a lot. I'm hoping there's shareable expertise and experience here. Thanks for your time. Regards B ****
Wow, what a coincidence. My first time on here and I saw your post...I have a 58 Apache Fleetside that I learned to drive on in the late 70s. I'm saving it for my 6 yr old so that one day we might rebuild it and bring it back on the road for him to learn to drive with. I hope you do tackle this project, and post lots of pics to share your experience. My experience has always been that things go better if you don't rush through it. Do a little every day or so and it'll get done eventually. I watched my dad rebuild motors like that, just a little very day after he got home from work, no 10 hour sessions on the weekend. I think kids will last longer too if it's not a marathon session! The 58-59 pickup is such a great vehicle to work on. Everything is right there in plain sight for the most part. It's a great way to learn the fundamentals of mechanics, whether or not the truck turns out. HAVE FUN!!!
