    Awesome!!! :D

I drove my '56 Austin Healey 100-4 1,200 miles to Silver Star BC from the NorCal foothills once for the West Coast Austin Healey meet back in '96. 2,400+ miles round trip, no top! Only problems were a flat tire and a brittle wire that broke and had to be spliced and extended on the side of the highway. But I was in high school and didn't know you shouldn't plan on doing stuff like that with an old British car. :p

I have to agree with temper_mental, get a hat, sunglasses, sun block and some chapstick. I actually found that an old white button-down dress shirt was the best thing to wear, long-sleeve so you don't get too sunburned, but still nice and light so you don't get overheated. And be sure to bring lots of water to stay hydrated, the sun and the wind will really take it out of you.

Good luck with the drive!

Dont forget to rainx the inside of the windsheid!

  7. Will you be heading through Missouri on I 70? I live in Sedalia, about 15 miles south of I 70. Dean

  8. 2x on rainx on both sides of the windshield.

I'm in Oberlin with a shop and tools, in case you get real close to home, and then have problems. Good luck and have fun.

  11. Shouldn't be a problem if you follow all the precautions mentioned above... but pick up a box of foamy ear plugs to spare your ears from wind buffing.

Have fun. 850 miles is a pretty long day of roadstering, but you should have fun. Good advice above about the gear you need.

  13. Grab some ear plugs, and your best pair of red baron goggles, and have fun.

Have a great time. We drove our T roadsters from Houston TX to St. Paul MN and back in 1990 for the 20th Ann. NSRA Nationals. That's about 2400 miles or so. No tops, plenty of sun, a bunch of rain in NE OK/SW MO on the go trip, lots of fun both directions.

when i picked up my first rod (28 roadster pickup) me and my son who was 9 at the time drove it home at night. it was a 6 hour drive home in the freezing cold and pissing down rain. we were sitting there wet and shivering mud and shit all over us and smiles from ear to ear by far the best drive we ever had

I am hoping to get the new engine running today and drive my roadster to the salt in august. It's a bucket list item.
Please post how your trip went.

If it were me, i would take the road less traveled, just to make it that much more fun

I already packed every thing mentioned, been making a list for a few days. I will pick up some trash bags after I get the car, for a ponco and to cover the seats. They are tweed and will be changed later. Have a few things i want to change. It is the car in my avatar. It has a 302 and c4 and 3.23's, should run fine. Tires are new.
Will be using 1-80 for most of the trip, turning south around Kearney, NE to hiway 36. I will post pictures.

Cool - if you need anything at all in the Omaha/Lincoln area, please let me know! My cell # is: 402-681-3088.

Are you stopping for a night, mid-way, or going straight through?

thanks, I will write it down. Driving straight through, should be 13+ hours. I'm just a shade under 63 so I can take it.
