I started when I was 6 / 7 sitting on my dad's lap and steering his 1980 Buick Skylark Sport Coupe. Later, was driving tractors and 4x4s. I then took the Ohio test in a 1978 Caprice Classic. It had catwalk grate for floorboards, and was robin's egg blue. That thing was a beast. The inspector just shook his head when he got in. Everybody should have the pleasure of driving one of those.

1969 Mercury Marauder X-100 with the 429/auto. I learned to drive a standard in our '58 Chevy Apache SWB stepside with straight 6, split manifold, dual cherry bombs, and 3 on the tree. This was in '76 or so. Took my driving test in mom's Toyota wagon, but the Marauder was mine. I should have kept that thing.... Don't we all say that about our first car?

1958 Ford 2Dr sedan, 6cyl, 3 on the tree. Dad took me to the College of San Mateo parking lot and made me stop on the hill and try and start off. What a joke that was. At that time I thought all cars should be automatics. The funny thing is 40+ years later I'm back to thinking that all cars should be automatics, especially with all the stop n go traffic around Ca.

Hey, anyone need the tail light lens from that car, I have one in nice shape, $10.00 + shipping from 95747 !!

When I was 12, we lived on a farm in north central Ill. My dad brought home a 59 Plymouth wagon 6cyl with the push button auto. We did some work on it and I drove it all over the farm roads for a year or two. Then we moved to town and the car had to go.

my dads 57 chevy sierra gold with white top two door belair. 283 two barrel one tail pipe and one nut behind the wheel. couldnt get it to peel out on pavement by flooring it so i would put it in reverse- and stomp on it and then pull it down in low and then it would brake the tire loose. i should have been shot and hung from the nearest tree! that one tire i wore out went flat on us on the way to Bellaire Ohio from Neffs and dad couldnt figure out why it was bald and the other was ok.
