Any gm techs on the board? My 2000 suburban keeps alerting "LOW COOLANT".... but it looks fine to me...and "SERVICE 4WD". Don't really want to take it to the dealer unless necessary ..anybody familiar with these warnings?

    Thanks... Brian

Just take it there and have them run the computer on it. My truck (2002) does random stupid idiot light things semi-frequently....and there (so far) hasn't actually been any of the things wrong with it that it's warning me about. They just clear it out, and off I go...

If you have drained the coolant recently you may have air trapped in the system somewhere. Start you truck when the motor is cool and the radiator cap removed. Wait for the thermostat to open then add coolant to the radiator. Also, make sure your overflow resevior is filled somewhere between cool and hot. Check the connection on the temp sending unit as well it may need cleaning/reseating.

Since the 4WD is all electronic it could be many things. Check all of the electrical connections (clean and reseat) including the ABS sensors and connections. May want to check and service the fluids in the transfer case and front differential as well.

Another tip with this late model GM stuff. Weather pack connectors are great and do a good job of keeping out the elements but a good cleaning and some dialectric grease works wonders.

My wife has a 02 Z71 Tahoe and I have a 99 Z28 so I feel your pain with the GM electrical gremlins.

One more thing, take your truck to Autozone and ask them to scan the computer for codes. Its free and you may find out just what the problem is. If that doesn't work ask the dealership how much an OBDII diagnostic check is...it might help you find your gremlin.
