I just recently purchased a remaned single barrel carb for my '55 210 chevy. The original worked but was about ready to go. Well i replace the old one and get everything installed right. The car cranks right up. It was pouring smoke out of the tailpipe and smelled like gas. The engine warmed up and i was tightening the line that runs from my manifold to the chock when i turned that dial pretty good the car died out instantly. I took the line off put a screw driver in there and brought the dial back to where it was and it still will not crank. I have no idea how to adjust this thing and the instructions in the box were for a newer two barrel carb.
If it won t crank it has nothing to do with the choke. All the choke does is make the air gas mix richer until the engine warms up. Nothing to do with engine crankikng over. That has to be an electrical problem. Loose cables, bad solinoid etc. It should run with the choke wide open this time of year.
well it tries to crank but doesnt seem to be getting a enough fuel. its gets really close to firing up. So im not sure
make sure its getting fuel. Sounds like its flooding out if its pouring smoke. Hold it wide open and crank it
Yeah im sure its running rich when it was running. I pulled out a spark plug and it just completely black. What do i do if to adjust the carb to get it to give the right amount of fuel. By the way i have never really messed with carbs so be detailed if you can
If you have never messed with carbs before, you might think about taking it to someone who has, and follow along.
