Yes. California roads are awful. You don't realize just how bad until you go and visit a state with really nice roads. Virginia has some great highways. I was told once that Texas had really bad roads too, but I never noticed. Still nice in comparison to any freeway in the east bay. California by far has some of the shittiest roads in the country. No doubt because of our worthless politicians and misappropriation of our tax dollars.
I know the Freeway hell. Use to take the 405 from OC to Santa Clarita daily. What was always fun was the "Wilshire Leap". Wilshire & the 405 North bound. It was like a jump was set up for a rally car. If you have ever been that way you would know.
I69 (!) has the worst roads for bias plies I've ever been on. I475 is under construction. The old '51 Ford goes just fine down either... If you know what's goin' on. Michigan has the worst roads I've been on (lots).
Drive it! Yes, Cali traffic is crap, and I learned it 1st hand by drivng my T tub over there last summer. The freeways were like most other places that get frost heaves and pot holes. So I slowed down, left space between cars to read the road, and swerved like a drunkered to avoid all the sink holes : ) Or take the back roads and sight see, but avoid the trailor.
Oh, come on. Driving the I-5 thru the Grapevine is like Nascar and a rollercoaster all in one. It's a super adrenaline rush, hi speed, all out , DAMN the torpedo's, rush to ...........a great big parking lot of mind numbing , brain bending, why the F are we slowing for that??? Gota luv So Cal......
So cal roads are not that bad. My Kenworth and I go all over and I'll tell you we've got it pretty good. In So cal, just take one of the boulevards if you are driving something old with poor suspension. Give yourself extra time and enjoy the ride! To those who complain about crap coming off trucks.... Give yourself more space. I guarantee you that the worst jalopy here manuevers better than 70 feet of 80,000 lbs on 18 wheels! Have fun!
If you want to sample some SUCK roads.............try driving thru Massachusetts We have 2 seasons, pot hole season and pot hole repair season.
I think if you drove 880 a couple times you would look a 99 like it was el mirage. Twice a week at least I go down 880 and I am beat to death and thats in my service truck,Hell a couple years back goin to Asphalt Invitational in my truck It actually was a nicer drive.
Ok guys if you see a little black T with no front end siting on the side of the "road" this weekend stop and give me a ride to Midnight Mass - Im drivin it. I just couldn't look at myself in the mirror if I trailer. And Bluto dont hold back tell me what you really think
