Greetings all, first off I must appologize for posting without introducing myself. Seems I've struck a nerve with a few. Well, I'm Matt, a 23 year old rodder from So Cal, Whittier to be exact. I've snooped on the HAMB for quite sometime now and was reluctant to join in due to the fact that I'm computer illeterate, a slow as mol***es computer and just being shy. Well that's over now. I've grown up around rodding my whole life and my earliest memories are going to the drags and car shows with my pop and helping him wrench on his dragster and whatever car came our way. I started out with a few muscle cars, a 67 Nova SS, 69 Pontiac Le Mans, 68 Nova. I've gravitated towards/feel accepted by the traditional/retro/(dare I use)rat rod movement. At present I've got a 23 Ford Roadster, a 30 Olds 5 Window Coupe, a 39 Dodge Tudor(my baby, rusty with a super red ram hemi, just plain *****in in my eyes), a 56 Ford wagon with a mildly hopped up y-block and my most recent acquisition, my grandfatehers old 72 Chevy pickup. I love building, wrenching, just playing with cars. That and starting to drive a front engine dragster along with our 27 Alterd. I'm a greasy car guy who gets his kicks out of building the cars and taking them to shows, near and far. Until I figure out how to upload pictures drop me a line if you're curious about what's in the stable. Thanks for welcoming me to the HAMB and hopefully my two cents will be well received.
You not only "gravitated", you jumped in with both feet...and no, don't use that "rat rod" term around here...there's some of us old farts that don't get that...nor are we "rat-rodders"...and even I don't have that many cars (and I have a few!)!!! How does a 23 year old afford that many cars in Cali? You must be independently wealthy... FWIW, welcome to the HAMB... R-
no nerve was struck.. just ball bustin, newbie!! welcome... I love Southern California...what is it 80 today!
Just to clarify, so I don't sound like a little rich kid, which I'm not, I worked with my dad as a kid and saved whatever money I earned and bought the 67. Following in my dad's footsteps of building 'em inexpensively and then selling them I parlayed the Nova into the Pontiac and so on and so forth. However, I have been really lucky to get some wicked deals on some of the cars. Cheers
