that has to be a fucking joke, but then again I did see a set of NOS door sill covers for a 69 Camaro go for $5k. yup 5k for door sill plates.
That boys and girls is why we don't restore muscle cars.

I wonder if the buyer of the mustang would be interested in some prime florida real estate.

i guess he just couldn't find any matches to burn that large pile of money that he had.

  7. If that's as good as the guy can take care of a car like that, somebody needs to open a can of whip-ass on him. (And the one that bought it) [IMG]

Actually it does look pretty complete other than having set in the weather for years and having quite a bit of deterioration. Looks like it can be fixed and 67s are very desirable. Looks like a lot of the hard to find parts are there. I think he paid too much tho.

Just what 4t6frd said. Someone is probly going to take a rust free granny car and turn it into a shelby. Happens all the time. I love muscle cars but I think these prices are crazy. Most likely they will go up and up then the market will fall and all these retards will be crying over how much money the pissed away. I paid $10,000 for my rust free 68 goat, then put $4000 into a 428. I love smokin the tires and doing doughnuts. A guy that spends 62,500 for a project is just going to remove it from an enclosed trailer and polish it once its finished. To each his own I guess but I think they are retarded [IMG]

  17. '67 GT500s have become too over rated since that movie came out a while back. There not the rarest or the fastest Shelby Mustangs-why so much $$ [IMG]

That is pretty insane. A few years ago when I was really into muscle cars, that was my dream though. Well, actually the 66 GT350H. A friend of mine had a '68 Charger that was in a million pieces that went for over 10k. Mind you, it was a numbers matching R/T.

I'm sure some of you guys remember the Ford Thunderbolts. The dual quad 427 Fairlanes the Ford Built and sold to select drag racers. There is a guy here that raced one for a local dealership. It was a first round loser at the Nationals that year. (Butch Leal flat towed his from California to Indy to compete). Anyway after the first year and no significant wins the dealership decided to drop his sponsorship and gave him the car. He kept it in one of his storage barns until about 8 years ago and decided to sell it. He let the word out and the offers poured in by word of mouth. Seems a collector in Europe was looking for one and made an offer of over $200,000. SOLD!!!!!! He took the car to New York and put it in a shipping container along with all of the spare parts that he had for the car for another HUGE chunk of change.
Sometimes it pays to hold on to some of that old car junk. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

My sisters husband has a 69 Daytona siting in a field in Virgina, that he lets rust away. The car is complete, and is almost to far gone to be brought back. The sad thing is he has a 30x40 shop that just has a bunch of trash in it, and he wont bring it down to it.

Last year, a body shop near here went out of business, they had an auction, well advertised. One of the cars that sold was a 69Camaro COPO 427, that had been totaled in 1980, set inside, and never touched. There was not one useable panel on the whole car. It sold for $50,000.

Oh Yea!! Like Hatch said the origional Shelby stuff is gold. For example put 1 million in your pocket and try to buy an origional 427 Cobra. I'll bet you come home with the million and your tail between your legs.

I had no idea they were bringing this kind of money. My next door neighbor had a 1968 GT500KR fastback with a 428 SCJ automatic and 42k original miles sitting in the garage since he bought it in 1974. It was a special order color of Copper with white interior and the car looked new but hadn't been driven in about five years. He told me he was going to sell it last summer and that he wanted $42k for it. I was trying to figure out a way to come up with that kinda scratch and that weekend a guy showed up with a trailer and I asked him if he got the whole amount and he said "no, this guy offered me $24k cash" and I just couldn't pass it up after seeing it. I wanted to cry. I could have made about $80k apparently.

I guess its not too hard for me to think this is reasonable for the real deal. About 7 years ago I saw one in worse condition than this one sell for 40g at Pomona. The only thing that baffles me is that some one could let a car like that delapitate to the state its in now. Good thing its not my money or I would have just bought another flathead and every hop-up part I've ever dreamed about for it.

Holy crap! I knew they were rare and expensive, but wow! There's a grandma, 72 years old, here in town that drives her Shelby Mustang convertible around all the time. It's her daily driver. It's kinda like that "where's the beef?" woman. All you see is two little wrinkled hands, and the top of some curly blue hair over the steering wheel! [IMG]

The ebay mustang is easy to figure out...

The guy that is selling it had someone/a friend, or himself make up the new account to make the first bid. Why do you think that the only bid that met the reserve is someone with Zero feedback? Do you think someone with 62,000 dollars cash to mess with would not have an ebay account yet?

I guess he thinks it will help people jump on it thinking, it's the only one available.

It's a rare Mustang but Why does the guy not know if the engine is original, doesn't the Vin numbers match the Engine numbers? that tells me the mustang is not worth that much, maybe 20,000 in this terrible condition.

I hate to sound like an asshole but did you see the old picture of him and his car? looks like someone was trying to compensate for their height-stature problem!!!!

yeah, here in Tallahassee we got a old couple just like that with a GTO, you can tell they are the original owners, needs a paint job but the body is straight, not one single dent.. wish i was not a full time college student so i could make them an offer. think it's a 64, that's like the first year, right? I want to beat the shit out of my uncle for selling his black on black 64 GTO with the optional siz barrel carburetor.... what would that be worth these days?
