Since I'm not allowed to fly and can't get travel insurance due to a brain tumor I'm sending the wife and daughter to Disneyland, they will be leaving Perth on Sept 20 for 10 days and while there they are going to visit a few places for me, buy some goodies and take lots of pic's. Now she is to scared to drive over there and will be relying on cabs. Here is a list of places that I've thought of for her to visit for me,
1:Galpin Auto Sports 15600 Rosco Blvd Van Nuys CA
2:peterson Museum 6060 Wilshire Blvd LA
3:NHRA Museum 1101 West McKinley Ave Pomona CA
4:Mooneyes 10820 S Norwalk Blvd Santa Fe Springs CA
5:West Coast Customs 181 Viatrevizio Corona CA
6:Barry White Speed Shop 1640 Commerce Street Corona CA
7:So Cal Speed Shop 1357E Grand Ave Pomona CA
    8:Boyds Lambert Rd Lattubra CA
9:Foose Sampson Lane Huntington Beach CA
10:Classic Industries Gothard Street Huntington Beach CA
    11:Deberti ? address unknown

So have I missed anything?Any thing else worth seeing? Now the most important thing of all can somebody put the list in some sort of order so that the cab driver is not driving all over the place and racking up a huge cab fare
Your help will be much appreciated by my wife and myself

  2. Mate, cabs are going to be a killer, cost-wise, just because of the distances involved. She may be better off arranging for a limo and private driver where she can get day rates, or better still, tough it out and have a go at driving.

Maybe some of you SoCal guys can point these people in the right direction?

BTW, I made my visit visit to Disneyland in August of '55...

Hope your family has a great trip.

Wow, you must not like your wife. Your going to have her going all over So. Cal in a cab at that. I'll try and make a list using the numbers you listed... #'s 1 and #2 are about 20 miles apart.. #'s 3,5,6 and 7 can be done in a day, #'s 8,9 and 10 are in the same general area. #4 is about the only one that is not near any other shops.. If I were you I would have your wife get over her fear of driving here and rent a car... WAY EASIER.. I think I have the list about right but somebody will chime in if I don't. Sorry to hear about the brain tumor, hope you get better soon.

Galpin is just a Ford dealer that sells Fords with custom accessories. You are better off hiring a car and driver if she doesn't want to drive.

  7. Tell your wife to get you some picture of the belly tank lakester at California Adventure it is in one of the souviner shops by the Soaring Over California ride. Thing is spot on man.

check out socalcarculture.com place ad in Wanted section here maybe someone in So Calif will drive her to some of the places on your list. Oh ya, a great big one day only car show at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa, CA called Cruisin For A Cure on Sept 26-funds go to help fight prostate cancer. Plus, there is a cool flea market (with no fleas) at same site too. If they like the ocean would be an opportunity to check some of California's best beaches close to show.

I don't believe this, So Cal is absolutely FULL of custom/hot rod guys and families and no one volunteers to help? I would bet my last dollar that if you were down under you'd find a hundred people clamoring to drive you around and show you the sights. HHUMPH !

and all this bull about being one big happy worldwide "family"

If ya'll come to Las Vegas, contact me. I will take you everywhere interesting.

I'd be happy to help out with transportation as much as I can while their down here if they would be comfortable with that. I live central to all those locations. I could drive them around with my wife and son when I'm not working... PM me if you would like me to make some time to show them around. Also, there is a show in Long Beach, Ca Sep. 23-26 and there is a ton for them to do around the area if they get bored with cars! Check out showcaseofkustoms.com

  16. Hey Petrolhead, I was there earlier this year, and the first cab fare was $180.00 USD. I knew it was going to be expensive ,but I needed to get there. You have to do a bit of home work because they actually charge mileage and also for delays such as heavy traffic, which is understandable. I actually asked this guy at the airport for a quote first. You may even consider subsidising a friend's air fare to go with them. Really sorry to hear about your situation. You've got a great attitude. Good luck mate.

You also have to remember this is for his wife and daughter. It's not a road trip for a couple of dudes.

I would reccommend having them stay in Newport beach while they are here. It is a little pricey, but a very nice beach community. It's within an hour of everything you listed except for Corona and only 15mins or so from Disneyland.

I'm sorry to hear that you can't come. They might want to consider renting a car while out here. If not my girlfriend and I might be able to show them around. I live in the valley right around the corner from galpin. If they're staying anywhere near lax then the Flyaway is a cheap way to get out to the valley. (Its a bus) But like stated earlier galpin isn't that exciting. You might be more interested in barris' shop or old crow speed shop or the nethercutt collection which are in the valley.

Zephyr3789,Bad Bob, Murocmanu I'll be in touch soon
I heard that Boyds sons had taken over the shop & were still selling trinkets and clothing etc.
Galpin appears on Pimp My Ride and seems to have some sort of car collection there, hard to tell on the show.
Deberti does anybody know where it is as I can't get their website to work
