One bad thing about CL is that there is alot of phony money floating around. I had a guy that wanted my truck and I told him to call me and set up a time to meet me at my bank and of course a no show. Weed em out.

Sold my first car on ebay June 1st. Great experience - over 3000 views, $500.00 paypal deposit immediately, wired the rest in 3 days, took him about a month to have the car picked up. I did not give my reserve amount unless some one came to see the car. I had listed on Clist in LA, SF, Chicago, Atlanta, Phoenix, Portland, etc., and got two serious [I felt] responses. The car sold for $1400.00 more on ebay than my asking price on Clist., and cost less the $150.00 w/24 pics. The car was a nice survivor big block MOPAR, not a 32 Ford, so it's not quite the same. I don't think think there is any cheaper exposure or market information than ebay.

It really bums me out to see white collar guys looking to get 'top dollar' selling cl***ic American cars to some other overseas capitalist.

  4. ABSOLUTELY---I get sick and tired of the guys who have to show you they are so damn smart that they can communicate without the use of a phone. I sell tons on ebay and really appreciate a guy who will just pick up the phone and call me---especially if he has an issue with a purchase. I just hate the damn hateful emails that are never signed. Amazing how tough some guys are behind a keyboard. Craigs List has not worked real good for me. Seems like it is overloaded with strokes and jokes. Of course that is just part of the deal when you are selling anything---putting up with the strokes. One good thing about ebay is the tons of exposure---sometimes I may not sell it on ebay, but will sell it later to somebody who either saw it on ebay or heard about it from somebody who did see it.

yeah i get that. but i'm a shift worker and when someone says yeah look just call me and i am on night shifts for the next 8 days they never get called cause i dont have time then forget by then and go buy it elsewhere. i know people prefer to deal with people but sometimes we're difficult for good reason. sometimes.

For the premium dollar you have to go with Ebay . Yes is costly but that is where the people with money to burn go to buy stuff ! If you run an ad in any mag , newspaper , C/list , and places like that , make sure you have a phone number that they can reach you 24/7 ! That way they have no time to think about it and some will be an impulse buyer ! Those are the good ones to sell to .
Good luck with your sale !

  7. for maximum dollar, go overseas. Their money is pretty strong against ours right now. Ask for double the going BJ price and see what happens. Being a 32, it will take on a life of it's own. And despite what they say here, it is still just a piece of metal. It's not the first 32 to be sold, nor will it be the last.

List it on Ebay and set your reserve at a spot that you are comfortable with. You can always drop the reserve if the bidding gets up in the territory you are looking for.
It's world wide coverage for a couple hundred bucks (with maybe a sellers fee added on) for less than a small add with photo add in the local news paper has here where I live.

Craigslist works for me most of the time both ways but does tend to draw a lot of flaky and sometimes shady prospective buyers.

Local, even large city newspaper adds are expensive for the coverage you get.

Plus in a way or form you have already advertised it here and if there is someone on here who is hunting a three window and has the resources to buy one he/she will no doubt be in contact with you.

Auctions, while you might come out on the good side usually depend on who shows up with the funds available to bid on a certain item.

I sold car parts on ebay for 5 years. over $100,000.00 in sales. I spent many hours on the seller discussion boards learning all about how it all works and what people think about how to run an auction.

I'd say it is you who does not know of what he speaks.
