Hey Guys - I need some help I'm trying to help out my inlaws - they have a Model T Depot hack, and have misplaced the ***le. They have had the thing for over 40 years, and it is in good condition. My question is - where is the serial number located onm a Model T? I believe that the depot hack was never a factory option, but surely Model T's had serial numbers in specific locations. I need to find the serial # in order to get a replacement ***le Thanks for your help and expertise!
I have been over every square inch of mine (many times) and I would have to say it must have been on a firewall tag originally. Curious to find out.
There were no s/n on the T's! If you find one it was done after it left the factory. They started to put s/n's on the very last of the 27's. If it has an engine in it- just stamp the same no. on the frame over by the steering box and play dumb! Do a nice neat job of it- would be good if you can borrow a stamping set with the star in it. Stamp the star 1st than the s/n. Get info. on the Texas laws and what they require.
Wildman1, There is only one number on the LEFT side of the block between #2 and #3 just above the water inlet casting. See that flat spot ? there's the number. NO number? The engine was changed and not stamped with the OLD number. There were body numbers, but they came and went with Ford whims. Engine number is the serial #, VIN, et al. Best Wishes.
+749 on the serial being on the engine block only. This is why a lot of states used engine numbers as a VIN for many years, they did things the Ford way -
It is not totally true that Model Ts were all engine serial number only. In 26, and 27 they started putting serial numbers on the frames too. I have an original 27 frame and the serial number is stamped into the top of the frame rail just in front of the front body mount and under the cowl on the p***enger side of the frame. wild, if they've owned it for 40 years, and had it legally in their names, the local DMV will issue a replacement ***le for it, usually.... regardless of the numbers on the car. now; if they never ***led it in their name.... well; it rhymes with duck.
What 62rebel said. If there is a license plate on it, take the plate or license number on it down to your DMV and go from there.
