That ****s man, was hoping to see that digger of yours at the HAMB Drags. Parts failures happen to the best of us, just at the worst times, keep your chin up, screw the naysayers, did they have a digger there, probably NOT, at least u gave it a shot. Now you've got an excuse to build an even meaner engine.

I know the anguish that follows after this as do many others that this has happened too...for this just happened to me first weekend in June last month........I had the engine removed the following day to investigate to see what parts if any told me the story of the failure.....made a real mess of everything, block was toast....but the heads looked unharmed..........my rod kicked out during the burnout...better their than while haulin *** down the track and possibly hurting myself or affecting the other lane.........so it was a good thing that yours let go when it did and not while trying to navigate the 1320......That was the only positive I walked away with......besides you have to weed out the weak.....regroup and come out swinging........I am hoping soon to kick some serious *** w/ my next engine in my Truck......The one thing I have done thou is cool my own jets and take my time.......I will blast down the 1320 on my own time....no more thrashing..............Good Luck, Littleman

So Kerry, are you sayin' you "blowed up, real good"?

Seriously, really ****s when things mechanical go south despite your best efforts. Hope it didn't ruin the block or crank. The car looks amazing, you're doing a fantastic job on it, just a setback on the road to victory.

    Chin up buddy.

Sorry to hear of your bad luck with the dragster but look on the bright side..you still have a hemi-fied Pontiac coupe that runs...see ya at the drags. I think we oughts start a pe***ion to REQUIRE TRENT TO ATTEND THE DRAGS THIS YEAR..with Carla,

  12. Sorry to hear you Blowed Her Up buddy. Back in the 80's we holed the pans of two Arduns at Bonneville. 20 hours tow each way, but we kept going back each year.
Keep the faith...build another bullet for her.

  16. Next year I am back to events, dunno which ones, but my self imposed exile willl be over. Carla just took over hers boss' old job so that messed up the end of this summer.

  17. Kerry..

    Keep your head up...

My old man was driving my mom's parents fuel car. Went to the IHRA open race at Bristol, won 25 thousand.

Went to Columbus for the NHRA national event the NEXT weekend... Brand new KB late model in the car. Everyone was on cloud 9. Qualified 3rd.

Blew the rods clean out of it warming it up the morning of eliminations, packed the **** up and drove the ten hours home. "Put that ****box on the trailer"...

Hope to see you at the drags man...

I'm actually pretty well setup for parts as far as blocks and cranks go. I keep waffling on what I'll do but a lot will depend on what I find inside. I'm going to start pulling her appart tonight but I'm not in a thrashing mood so we'll just have to see how far I get.

A HUGE thank you all for all the support and well wishes!!!! Good medicine!!!!

I know how you feel. I threw a rod in my dragster this summer too. It has really been a bummer.

Kerry, sorry to hear the news. Were you running stock rods in the motor? If so, I'd be interested in what part of the rod failed. When I rebuilt my 354 a couple of years ago, there was a very small forging flaw along one edge of the beam that just looked like a small nick, but it sure looked like it would be a good place for a crack to start. I got a replacement from TRWaters, then ground the beams and had them shot peened for peace of mind. Probably overkill on a street motor, but I like to make them as good as I can.

Sounds like you won't need it but I have a rough 354 short block. Unless you want that blank canvas of an empty 392 block.....

Sorry, I think I've got a lock on the tag line. :D

But let's see some photos of the motor and FED. I haven't caught any yet and don't see any other than the one possible one in your albums. Would love to see it.

After the pain wears off some, I'm sure you'll get it back together before long. If it was easy, everyone would do it.

Don't walk away now buddy. There is nothing on this planet that
feels like driving a dragster! If you never got to drive it hard, you
got close to stepping across that line to join a group of people
who have had a life changing experience.
I had the good fortune to drive a Ch***is Research dragster in
the early 60's for a couple of years and I still remember clearly
what it was like today at age 66.
Don't miss your chance to join the dragster drivers !

Don't worry, I'm not walking away. Just cooling off. I was going to start tearing her down tonight but lazyness kicked in and I spent the evening making supper, helping clean out the fridge, pestering my son, etc. It's all good!
